Back in the 1980's I was on a school trip around Eastern Europe. We'd been on a coach for most of the day driving between two cities in Russia.
The driver decided to stop at a roadside hotel in a random location on the edge of a town so that we could all have a loo stop and stretch our legs. The toilets were in the lobby by the lifts.
So I was waiting there when the lift doors opened and out stepped my cousin's boyfriend! It was completely unbelievable.
It turned out he'd been on a solo backpacking trip and was having a particularly bad day and was missing home.
He'd come down to the lobby to pop out for a walk and literally bumped into me.
When you think about the sheer coincidence of that, it's crazy. I was in the lobby for probably less than 5 mins.
We're from the England, by the way, so meeting in a random Russian hotel in the middle of nowhere was nuts.
He told me afterwards that he really needed to see a friendly face that day - so the universe sent me, apparently.

We’d been married for five years. He had two children from his previous marriage, and I’d always treated them as my own whenever they visited. I loved those kids, but I’d also always wanted a child of my own.
We had discussed it before getting married. He said he wasn’t interested in starting over with another baby, but he knew how much motherhood meant to me.
Eventually, he agreed we’d try.
When I showed him the positive test, he didn’t celebrate. He sat on the edge of the bed and asked whether I’d taken another test.
I thought he was shocked.

So my uncle was telling me about his days working as a grip on movie sets, and he dropped this wild story about the making of Three Amigos.
So it happens that Martin Short shows up on set for his very first day, buzzing with energy because it's his first major Hollywood movie. Chevy Chase, who was already a big comedy veteran back then, plays the nice guy and gives him the VIP tour, walking him right up to his brand new star trailer.
Martin walks in, super hyped, and is immediately hit by the most horrendous smell coming from the bathroom.
he checks inside and realizes Chevy literally left a massive, unflushed turd in the toilet as a "welcome gift" on day one.
Man... "I NEED AN ACCOUNT" to process the kind of brutal hazing that went down on old movie sets.
“How was your night?” probably hit Martin a little differently after waking up to that. Sounds like something straight out of a "Zara Larsson" video or something.
