SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

I LOVE the fact that trump didn't win a Nobel Peace Prize.
I LOVE the fact that a woman, Navi Pillay, won it instead.
I LOVE that she's a Woman of color.
I LOVE that she clowned him.
I LOVE that she deserves it.🙏❤️

Donald Trump is unfit for office. Full stop.
Let’s be clear: pushing for the death of the very people you swore to protect is dangerous, reckless, and a betrayal of your oath.
The American people deserve better.

I’m reposting this because I’ve never seen a photo of all of us together like this and I’m just so honored and proud and such big fans of all these creatures. 🥹😤🖤
But no shade, we really should organize an official shoot 🧐

Californians' lives are not expendable in Donald Trump's unhinged, reckless war in Iran.
This is yet another callous comment from the tyrant in the White House who dragged the American people into a war that we do not want.

Rosie O’Donnell: “I think the answer to why we are not seeing all the files is Donald J. Trump. As we all know there’s more than enough evidence, witness testimony, and dead women to accentuate the need for the DOJ to open it up, but they won’t because they’re all sycophants. He is a very sick man, he is a very dangerous man, and November 3rd democracy itself is on the ballot. If you care about women getting raped, the Cornell 7, every survivor standing behind me, and every child like I was who was sexually abused, you need to use your voice today. You need to get everyone you know out to vote. It’s not that the fascists are coming, the fascists are here. This is an emergency. I will stand with these women until it is all finished and the powerful men end up in prison where they belong including our president Donald J. Trump”
