Hey everyone, I’m Rob — storm chaser for a little over a decade and founder of the Chasin’ Chaos Storm Team. We cover a lot of ground across the Southeast, the Ohio Valley, and Texas, reporting severe weather, documenting storms, and doing our best to help when communities are hit hard. Our chase vehicle carries Starlink, onboard comms, radar systems, lighting, and field gear so we can operate even when towers go down or coverage disappears. We’re still growing and improving season by season — trying to do things the right way, keep people informed, and show up with purpose instead of ego. We also live for the in-between moments. Our adventures don’t stop when the radar is empty — earlier this morning I was on a mountain peak in Arkansas hanging out with a raccoon in a tiny jacket. Crazy! Sometimes chasing chaos means storms, and sometimes it’s just life being unexpectedly wild in the best way. We’re grateful to be here — to learn from this community, share forecasts, chase logs, radar breakdowns, and swap stories both on and off the plains. No drama, no superiority — just people who respect the weather and love the world we get to explore under it. If you want to see what we do or ride along: 🔗 chasinchaoswx.com Thanks for having me. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. 🌩️🌪 – at Alabama, USA

Today, we are unveiling StormNet 4.5. This update includes a new interface, new radar features, and a new StormNet model capability. After several breakthroughs and tons of R+D, we are excited to announce that we have developed a SOTA short-range weather prediction model.

NOAA is pulling the plug on the NAM, NAM MOS, SREF, HREF, and HiresW tomorrow. RRFS and REFS take over. Love it or hate it, the CAM landscape we’ve used for years is about to change forever...

Florida man is having a field day with all this flooding in Melbourne and Palm Bay. On a serious note, turn around, don't drown. I'm seeing a lot of stalled cars. Also, I've seen fire ants, water moccasins and even gators in Florida flood waters. I don't recommend playing it.
#BREAKING: Flash Flood Emergency this morning in Florida from Palm Bay to West Melbourne after 12 - 20" of rain since Midnight...and it's still raining! New pictures are coming in showing the extent of the major flooding in the area. Many roads became impassable, vehicles are stranded, and Brevard County Public Schools closed for the day. I'll continue to keep you updated.

‼️DEVELOPING: RADAR SHOWS JET FLEW INTO A STORM CORE AT 35,000 FEET Analysis of Miami NEXRAD radar shows the Learjet 60 (N722BD) entered a thunderstorm core near Wellington at about 12:48 PM ET, just before it crashed in Palm Beach County. At 35,000 feet, radar echoes around the jet jumped to 34 dBZ, with a 52 dBZ core below it and storm tops near 47,000 feet. Tracking data shows the jet climbed about 450 feet inside the core, then went into a spiraling dive and crashed 76 seconds later. Minutes earlier, the crew told Miami Center they were in moderate turbulence and “managing the ice” at −53°F, and asked to climb out of the precipitation. Moments later they declared a Mayday, reported an overspeed, and said they were banking 60 degrees. All 9 people on board did not make it. The NTSB is investigating, and the cause has not been determined.

TAG @Kia , LIKE & RT PLZZZ. Help us keep Thor on the road so we can NEVER STOP HELPING🚨 This is Thor. A little two-wheel-drive 2011 Kia Sorento with 292,000 miles on him. He's been through the worst ice storms Mississippi has ever seen. Sliding off roads, getting stuck, getting back out, hauling heaters and food to people who had nothing. Right now he's deployed with the @Unitedcajunnavy and @TDStormRecovery . Now his engine's quit. It's the same engine family Kia put a recall on for this exact failure, but it cuts off at 150k miles, and I'm hoping they'd like to be part of keeping him running. I'm not doing a GoFundMe. I don't want you paying for my stuff. I can get a new car, but it won’t be THOR. I just want everybody to tag Kia, like it, and share it so it gets seen. Kia, you built something tough. Let's show the world what these cars can do. NEVER STOP HELPING. #KeepThorChasing

Day 1 to Day 1,166 THORS LAST RIDE 290k miles. Multiple cross country trips. Floods. Tornadoes. Hurricanes. River and creeks. Oceans. Oklahoma Mud. Nebraska Clay. Minnesota backroads. Offlanding. Camping. Racing. Shit. It’s done it all. I’ve taken it to impossible places. I mean everywhere they said this car couldn’t go. It’s a 4 cylinder 2.4L front wheel drive monster. I loved this car. More than any car or truck I’ve ever owned. My mom lived off grid in the desert and everywhere in this car before it became mine. Colorado mountains. Arizona canyons. Tennessee mountains. Everywhere. And when I got it, I knew I was about to put it through hell building my name and portfolio as a storm chaser. My last car perished due to a lightning strike. I named him THOR. Which stood for Tornado and Hurricane Observation and Research. That was its purpose. And I wanted the car to be different. Like art. Not some generic car with a bunch of vinyls. But something I created MYSELF. I painted every bit by hand. Rebuilt the inside. Added wire racks for quick access to items during emergencies and recovery operations. I’ve taken this little car everywhere. I’ve slept in it. Survived in it. Lived in it. Survived an armed robbery in it. Dozens of future storm chasers and weather nerds have crawled up into THOR like it was theirs. Hit all the buttons. Play with the cameras. Hit the siren. Took selfies. It’s been a damn good car. Never doubted any trip and it’s never left me stranded. I limped it home without an alternator one time. Dug sand out of it. Removed debris from the radiator after tornado intercepts. I stayed on top of maintenance and was constantly working on it when it was parked. It’s had a few different looks, but a couple weeks ago, I was finally happy with how it was turning out. I rode out Hurricane Isaias in it. Used it for recovery missions. My daily driver, THOR quickly became infamous. Everyone knew this car! Reed Timmer Extreme Meteorologist even nick named it MINI DOM he liked it so much. Ryan Hall, Y'all LOVES Thor! And so did everyone else! And today. We left Frenches after taking the girls shopping, and when I merged on 65 to go home, it went into limp mode. I got it home. Barely. And then the knocking was obvious, pulled the codes. Connecting Rod Bearings. Gone. The motor is shot. The car is waaay over its lifespan and I’ve sunk about 8k in it to keep it alive after the last motor failure. Tonight. We send THOR to that great open plain in the sky. And it feels like my dog died or something. I’ll get a new car eventually, but, none will ever be THOR. The little Kia that could. If you have any photos of THOR at any stage, drop em in the comments! I’d like to make a big collage poster to celebrate the life of Thor. Old cars have souls. And Thor had a good one.

Pieces of Halley’s Comet are going to be falling from the sky tonight... The Orionid meteor shower peaks overnight, and the best time to look is from moonset (around 3 or 4 AM) until dawn. If you’re in the green, you’ve got the best shot at clear skies.

We were just down there. It’s not 3rd world. The national guard is already in Florida. You know, they have their own. Cleanup was actually pretty fast in most areas and others just take time. It’s been a week. People are STILL there. Plus dozens of other entities as well as hundreds of volunteers. This is blatantly fake news.
President Trump should send the National Guard to the Florida Panhandle. I swear, it’s third world here right now. It has been 8 days since the Hurricane and some people still have no power and no internet. There are food distribution sites giving out food to people whose homes have been destroyed. It feels like the cleanup has been very slow. People are so pissed off.
