Today, I am officially launching the first #AI startup laser focused on improving intensity predictions for tropical cyclones (hurricanes and typhoons)
Say hello to Worldsphere.ai
Website in progress :)
Why am I doing this?
I did a podcast. If you are interested in how vibe coding is going to change the software landscape check it out here: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
Thank you Brooke Gramer and How I AI for the insightful questions
The value of software is going to go to zero.
A good or service has a value only if buying it is easier than making it. For example, we pay for a car because the time, effort, and cost involved in building our own car would be immense.
only incredibly complex tasks like curing cancer or reversing climate change or building perfectly realistic VR worlds will require this kind of software building power.
Im very excited about this talk I gave. A sincere thank you to @ipam_ucla for a week of incredible learning! Starting in minute 12, I make the case for why improving hurricane predictions is a moral imperative - that’s why Worldsphere.ai exists.

#Rafael is 4th Atlantic major #hurricane to form since 26 September (Helene, Kirk, Milton). 2024 is tied with 2020 for most Atlantic major hurricane formations between 9/26-11/6 on record. No other Atlantic season on record has had more than 2 major formations between 9/26-11/6.

#Rafael is now a major (Category 3) #hurricane with max winds of 115 mph - the 5th major hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season. 7 other seasons in satellite era (1966-onwards) have had 5+ major hurricanes by 6 Nov: 1995, 1996, 2004, 2005, 2010, 2017, 2020.
