Canada has some amazing National Parks and I am looking at the history of each of them!
Today, it is Georgian Bay Islands National Park!
Established in 1929, this park consists of 63 islands in the Georgian Bay. The total size of the National Park is 13.5 square-kilometres.
It is the smallest National Park in Canada, one square-kilometre smaller than Point Pelee.
The area has been inhabited by the Indigenous Peoples for over 7,000 years. The remains of ancient pottery, tools and hunting implements have been found on the islands.
The park can only be reached by boat, but all the islands are open to the public. The largest island in the park is Beausoleil Island.
The island is eight-kilometres long and named for Louis Beausooleil, an early Metis homesteader.
Among the Wendat, the island is called Skiondechiara, meaning "the land to appear floating afar".
The entire area is part of the Georgian Bay Littoral Biosphere Reserve.
The park is home to many species including deer, moose, black bear, coyote, bobcats, beavers and 33 species of reptiles and amphibians.

1989 was a big year for us too, Taylor! It was the year Private Heather Erxleben (pictured here) became the first woman to be a Canadian infantry soldier, leading the charge among peer nations in gender integration in the armed forces. #WomensHistoryMonth #1989TaylorsVersion

In Canada, you have the option to remove your child from both religious studies and sex education at any time.
However, you do not have the option to remove other people's children from those same classes.
*Reminder for those protesting, your province sets the curriculum.

Yeah, I’m into fitness. Fitness whole salmon in my mouth.
Do you like to eat & sleep? Then get hyperphagic (insatiable hunger) & follow the @KatmaiNPS bear diet.
1: Gorge on raw salmon for one hour.
2: Sleep on a beach for two to three hours.
3: Repeat.

This is incredible!
Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike Gilday just destroyed Republican talking points that attacked a non-binary Navy Officer who was proud that they had the chance to read a poem to their crew mates on an LGBTQ spoken-word night.
Gilday responded to Senator Tommy Tuberville saying, “I’ll tell you why I’m particularly proud of this sailor. Her grandfather served during World War II, and he was gay, and he was ostracized in the very institution that she not only joined and is proud to be a part of, but she volunteered to deploy on Ford. And she’ll likely deploy again next month when Ford goes back to sea.”
Thank you to this incredible sailor and to Adm. Gilday for standing up for our Navy heroes!
