VE holding up to 8+ months looking at Ontario data...do we need more boosters right now in 🇨🇦 or more vaccine in #LMICs @DrJeffKwong @ICESOntario #COVID19 #vaccines
Pre-preprint data: in Ontario, VE of mRNA vaccines seems to be holding up 8+ months after the 2nd dose, especially vs hospitalization or death (>90%). Vs infection, the glass still appears to be ~3/4 full. @ICESOntario 1/

Very excited for @xuan_l1 's first PhD paper to be out in @mSystemsJ. TLDR: multiplex tiling PCR primer design and wastewater matrix impacted sensitivity of sequencing SARS-CoV VoCs. Also frequency of VoCs in WW correlated strongly with clinical cases. bit.ly/3piTvvG

Latest on single dose vaccine effectiveness! While 1 dose of a ChAdOx1 had less protection (60%) against infection, just one dose of any vaccine reduced the hospitalization risk by more than 80%. #skowronski @spphubc @CDCofBC @UBCmedicine medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

This important work was only possible due to the early and generous support from @GenomeBC, #CanCOGEN, @GenomeCanada & @PHSAofBC
B.C. accounts for 11% of Canada’s COVID-19 cases but is responsible for 32% (38,868) of Canada's uploaded SARS-CoV-2 genomes to @GISAID. This helps researchers understand how the pandemic spreads. Dr. Natalie Prystajecky of @CDCofBC & @UBCpathology has directed this great effort!
