An Army veteran has reportedly been turned away from a Wetherspoon pub in Gosport for wearing a poppy. Footage has emerged of a British Army veteran being refused entry to The Star. A member of staff tells him the poppy is “political” and that he will not be served while wearing it. The incident is alleged to have taken place in Gosport, a town currently grappling with anti-immigration protests. In footage shared on Facebook, a doorman can be heard saying: “Really sorry mate, you can’t come in with a poppy I’m afraid. It’s political.” He tells the veteran he can re-enter if he removes the poppy and puts it in his pocket, but warns him not to put it back on inside or he will be asked to leave and refused service. A Wetherspoon spokesperson said: “Wetherspoon has long been a supporter of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, with poppies for sale in our pubs, including The Star. There is no ban on poppies in Wetherspoon pubs.” Read more below 👇

I don’t care about Oxford Street, a horrible road in a city I don’t live in, but people who get excited by pedestrianisation (AKA pedophiles) are weirdos who nearly always have terrible opinions about everything else.

Best anecdote in Carol Thatcher's book about her father is when Sir Denis boarded a train at Paddington in which the only empty compartment was reserved for Rosewood Psychiatric Hospital. Denis travelled alone and in comfort as far as Reading when "all these chaps piled in", accompanied by a male nurse, who counted them before the train moved off. 'One, two, three, four ... who are you?" "I'm the Prime Minister's husband." "Six, seven, eight, nine..."

That trope often found in sci-fi and fantasy where an old man takes a young girl away from her home on an adventure, sometimes never to return, is barely disguised kidnap/paedophilia fantasy.

Did I ever tell you, chaps, that when I was suffering from a high fever as a result of an infection I got after open-heart surgery, I hallucinated that I was in hell and that the Devil was...
I'm the son of a youth pastor, who performed exorcisms. What I learned is far more horrifying that most people can imagine - including Satan's real name.

An oldie but a goodie. In 1968 a bunch of entitled hippy bastards sent a letter detailing their specious demands to the Warden and Fellows of Wadham College, Oxford. This was their letter of reply, which speaks to how far the academy has since fallen.

Evening all. Here’s a new photo restoration and colourisation from #DoctorWho and the Massacre (of St Bartholomew’s Eve, if you must). David Weston as Nicholas and Peter Purves as Steven outside Charles Preslin’s apothecary - sorry, apotheKary, according to the sign painter - in Riverside Studio 1 on Friday 28th January 1966 during camera rehearsals for Episode 2, ‘The Sea Beggar’.
