Firstly, congratulations to the EFF for the wards won and the general improvement in our overall national electoral performance. These gains reflect the hard work and commitment of many Fighters. A special appreciation to our ground forces, volunteers, activists and election agents who sacrificed their time, energy and resources to take the organisation forward. Your commitment does not go unnoticed. Moreover, I will never understand how a candidate can receive fewer than 200 votes when the membership of their branch is supposedly a minimum of 200 members. What exactly are we telling the organisation during branch meetings and membership reports? Are these members only on paper, or do they actually exist on the ground? We need to confront these uncomfortable questions. Our membership figures must reflect genuine, active structures capable of translating organisational strength into electoral participation.
