As someone who loves INK’s music and wanted them in DBD for a long time. There’s no talking about their potential addition to the game without addressing this. About a year ago they used Gen AI to form ads for their merch and when called out they posted this. What’s weird is that they made this post….then proceeded to never use AI again, and even have a running storyline where AI has replaced their lead singer Spencer, as the real Spencer is killing the band and leads of the label for revenge. (Their comments in the videos are seemingly a mockery of those who glaze Gen AI) and on top of that they remain close friends with the members of Dead Meat (who are notoriously Anti AI) to this day. So this post ever having been made makes zero sense to me. They could have just apologized. This post feels like doubling down on it…when they had no intention to do so. I have seen people say it’s the characters doing this but…that’s also odd. I think the best course of action here would be for INK to actually address this like they should have from the beginning and apologize for how they handled the situation and for using it to begin with. It doesn’t matter if they did it in character or for a story. It shouldn’t have happened. I’m glad they haven’t used it since, but I still really hope they apologize to the people they disrespected with the post below, who were just trying to inform them of the multiple forms of harm Gen AI causes. I love INK, but I can acknowledge when the things I love do things I’m absolutely against. INK really needs to make things right. But that’s just my 2 cents on it
