Great to finish the week with a pub in @angew_chem! A highlight of this work is that it discloses what we believe to be the first catalytic turnover by a biomimetic Mo C–H hydroxylase!

Our latest work buildling models of molybdopterin active sites is now published in @J_A_C_S

Led by co-first authors Mahesh Choudhary and Daniel Kim @ChemistryatUIC , this study carefully considers the role of the bridging Mo-S-Cu unit in CODH after serrendipitously finding that W-O-Cu can be favored over W-S-Cu in some synthetic complexes!

Our department is hiring, and this one is a big one.
We are searching for a nationally recognized leader to serve as @UTEPCHEMISTRY's endowed Welch Chair. The chair comes with ~$110K in flexible research funds every year.

.@ACSPublications Here is a video showing just how unworkable the new search box is:
Why would you change something that wasn't broken?
.@ACSPublications why did you break your search box?
Where is the year, volume, page number dropdown?
Congrats to my student mentee, Ananthu, for this terrific publication in @J_A_C_S on synthetic modeling of Mo-dependent C–H hydroxylases!

It is also a milestone for my lab, as it is our 100th publication since we began @ChemistryatUIC in 2012! Thanks to all my current and former lab members for their hard work!!

A disastrous decision by the @AmerChemSociety and @RoySocChem: removing graphical abstracts from ASAP articles. Bring them back!
Neal Mankad retweeted
Is everyone as irritated as I am with the redesign of the ACS journal websites? The lack of TOC graphics on the ASAP pages for each article is ridiculous. This abysmal design needs to be reverted immediately. Everyone should send ACS an email and repost this far and wide!

Hey @ACSPublications Can we have graphical abstracts back, please? Thank you.
Humbled yo receive this award from the UI system. Thanks to everyone at @ChemistryatUIC for the support and all my past and present group members for the hard work that made this possible!

I wrote a quick post on my much neglected Substack about how attending seminars is hard when also having to manage school pickups.
Departmental seminars could be more family friendly open.substack.com/pub/nealma…
Very proud of our latest work in @J_A_C_S. Our group is becoming increasingly interested in synthetic models for ubiquitous molybdenum enzymes, and this work on C–H hydroxylation sets a new research path for us to follow!
