Neill Allen had a line of:
58-70, 3.88 ERA, 611 Strikeouts, and 75 saves
He was one of the top relievers in the league.
Traded to St. Louis for Keith Hernandez, his legacy continued.
(Pictured with his iconic windup.)

@NeilAllenFan if you haven’t already, I recommend reading Tom Seaver book by Bill Madden.
Those two Yankees games were fun to watch.
Mixture of everything. Longball, small ball, gutsy pitching, etc.
Goat (not GOAT): Boston Catcher.

Me with NEIL ALLEN in East Rutherford, NJ—January 2026. 💙🧡 #NeilAllen #Mets #LGM @Mets @NeilAllenFan
Is it so bad that as a Mets fan I want the Mets first?
I get doing the right thing. I do get tired of Yankees retreads coming to Queens, a field that honors the Dodgers.
I want Mets culture and Mets wins.

September 6, 1971: Tom Seaver fires a two hit shutout, striking out 12 Montreal Expos. Seaver also collected two hits, a walk and an RBI in the @Mets 7-0 win at Parc Jarry. #LGM #TomTerrific #TheFranchise
Murphy left, but there was Howie.
The absence of Howie is going to be tough. I listen to more games than I watch over the years. He is such a talent.
Had eye surgery to correct alignment.
Have some stitches in both eyes. Fun.
Couldn’t open my eyes for a day. I have a new appreciation for blind people.
…and umpires.
