I condemn the horrific terrorist attack on the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George in Karak, Jordan. Opening fire on families mourning a loved one is an act of profound evil. We stand with Jordan’s Christian community and pray for the victims and their relatives. No one should have to fear for their life in a house of God. Memory eternal.

Attacking a church as mourners bury their dead is pure barbarity. Persecution has systematically emptied the Middle East, once the cradle of Christianity, of its Christian communities. I stand in grief and solidarity with the Greek Orthodox Christian community in Jordan.

Report on my client who is suing the City of Montreal and four SPVM officers over his arrest at the 2025 Grand Prix Cycliste, where he held an Israeli flag. His obstruction charge was withdrawn after the prosecutor reviewed video evidence. Who answers for that? ctvnews.ca/montreal/article/…

Farcical and indefensible. Canada and Türkiye are NATO allies, but they are not bound together by “shared values.” Türkiye is governed under an increasingly authoritarian system marked by imprisoned political opponents and journalists, politicized courts, corruption and impunity, and non-compliance with binding judicial rulings. Witness the recent arrest and detention of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, President Erdoğan’s principal political rival, followed by hundreds of arrests and prosecutions of students, protesters, and journalists who objected. That doesn't even count the rampant abuse and discrimination it inflicts against, for example, Kurds and its LGBTQ+ citizens, its activities in Cyprus, and its longstanding denial of its mass genocide of Armenians in the early 20th century. A government that jails opposition leaders, detains reporters covering protests, restricts assembly, and disregards court rulings should in no way be tied to Canada’s history of commitments to human rights, individual liberties, democracy, or the rule of law. If the Prime Minister's intent is for Canada to engage Ankara in trade, NATO coordination, or strategic interests, just say it. But that engagement should in no way be in the language of shared democratic values.
Prime Minister Mark Carney called Türkiye an “exceptional partner” during joint statements with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Thursday, the latest move in a warming of relations between the two NATO allies. 🔗ctvnews.ca/politics/article/…

Headlines all week: "Ongoing violent riots in France, Belgium, and Italy" Our Foreign Minister: "How about I take a pass on commenting and, instead, find a new way to incite more hatred against Canadian Jews?" Madame - you know what "threatens Palestinian communities" right now? All the Palestinian flags being waved as part of those riots in France, Belgium, and Italy. Pathetic.

Maybe, for once, we can stop framing the argument as an "immigration problem" but rather a "capacity problem" and put together practical solutions from there. Facts are facts. For the last 11 years we imported population growth faster than we built homes, transit, schools, doctors, and hospitals to keep up. Now the Liberals new slogan is “more immigration plus more housing and we'll treat it like a serious plan. We mean it this time. Trust us." And while Liberals will surely pull another "it's not me; it's him. It's not him; it's her. It's not her; it's the other one" among each other in multiple levels of government as the explanation for how we got to here, the blame starts right at the top because they're the ones who issue the visas and the entry permissions along with the slogans and performative theatrics. Stop it. How about build the housing and infrastructure first? THEN set immigration to what Canada can actually absorb. Low fertility rates are real. So are rents, ER waits, and a chronic housing shortage. Pretending the second set of facts is secondary (if a consideration at all) is showing contempt for younger people, renters, hospital patients, and commuters. It's ruining our country. It's ruining the Canadian dream.
“It’s existential.” With no natural population growth coming, Canada needs more immigration to avoid incredible decline, which means that in addition to higher targets, we need more housing and social infrastructure. It’s as important as anything. thestar.com/opinion/canada-s…

Madame Minister - “full force of the law” is not a strategy; it's a "clicks for kicks" press release. Stelco was bought under binding Investment Canada Act commitments. If Ottawa believes those commitments have been breached, enforce them: document the breach, go to court, and impose the remedies Parliament provided. A minister cannot demand that a company indefinitely absorb losses the Liberal government helped create, then call it “upholding commitments.” Let's get certainty, a real trade strategy, and enforcement that survives legal scrutiny. Spare the slogans and ominous tweets. Those workers deserve it.
Cleveland-Cliffs must uphold its commitments. We will use the full force of the law and every tool at our disposal to keep this strategic capacity operational. They must keep jobs in Canada or face the prospect of having to sell their Canadian assets.

To start with "Blocked Me" Bruce, this is Canada. Why the "Bad Yankee" strawman? I know that's hard for a Party you're so faithful to that's embedded and infiltrated by the U.S. Democratic Party to understand but let's start there. What is it with Liberals constantly being so obsessed with telling Conservatives what kind of Conservative leader they should have? Do you remember all those Conservative conversations about what a Liberal leader should look like when they were in their 10 year wilderness, including four as the third-place opposition after 2006? All none of them? Maybe because defining the opponent is easier and lazier than defending 11 years of affordability failure, deficits, escalating crime, out-of-control immigration, deteriorated public safety, and housing costs. The latest trick du jour to protect their fragile psyche is known as “Trumpism.” The one where every criticism of Liberal policy becomes "MAGA" by association. No definition required, no evidence needed, just a label designed to end the argument. Here's something to chew on: Canadians aren’t “Trumpist” because they think housing is unaffordable, taxes are too high, haters have taken control of our streets and neighbourhoods or the deficit is out of control. Or when they believe a government should be held to account. And by the way, Maxime Bernier left in 2018 and, with it, the fringe already has a party. The real question is why Liberals would rather talk about Poilievre’s tent - or O'Toole's tent or Scheer's tent before - than their own record. I think we all know the answer to that one. Or we should.
If the Conservative Party wants to win, it should part company with its fringe. Jason Kenney is right: free speech is great, but Conservatives need to be clear about the lines they won’t cross and the ideas they won’t accept, @bruceanderson writes bruce728.substack.com/p/if-t… Find out more at nationalnewswatch.com

The phrase "violation of conditions precluding recognition of a Palestinian state" seem "oddly" missing. Perhaps the Liberal "Jewish Caucus" can clarify....

How's that $10 million given to the PA in 2025 "to accelerate reform and capacity-building for the Palestinian Authority" going? Is there a refund coming? Or can that still rest in the "pay to slay (Jews)" fund for safekeeping? By the way, at over 17 years overdue, another postponement of elections should not involve "deep regret" unless you have a funny way of saying words like "disgusted" and "outraged".
Canada, alongside Australia, France and the United Kingdom, expresses deep regret over the postponement of Palestinian elections until September 2027. Nearly two decades have passed since the last Palestinian Legislative Council elections, leaving an entire generation without the opportunity to elect its representatives. We call on the Palestinian Authority to reconsider this decision and to take the necessary steps to hold legislative and presidential elections, without further delay.

She’s proof that young Canadians with fresh ideas, courage, and a commitment to affordability, freedom, and opportunity deserve a seat at the table and in the forum of ideas. Canada has plenty more like her. I have met many of them locally. We should be listening.
Éloïse Coulombe is a 23-year-old Canadian politician and the newly elected Member of the National Assembly (we call them MLAs) for Charlesbourg in Quebec. She represents the Parti conservateur du Québec (Conservative Party of Quebec) and is the youngest woman ever elected to their National Assembly. She won the seat last Monday with 38.5% of the vote (a margin of nearly 5,000 votes), flipping a riding previously held by the incumbent Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ). This made her part of a significant Conservative breakthrough in the Quebec City region. She holds a college diploma in legal techniques, a university certificate in political science, and is completing a bachelor’s degree in law (planning to finish remaining courses part-time while serving as an MNA). She has also worked in a law firm. She co-founded and serves as director general of Génération Ambition, an independent youth movement that brings together Quebecers under 35 around right-leaning ideas such as individual freedom, autonomy, reducing the size of the state, and practical solutions on issues like housing and the cost of living. This was her second run for office. The COVID-19 pandemic deepened her interest in politics. She emphasizes issues such as affordable housing, easier access to home ownership, tax relief, deregulation (especially in construction), healthcare access, and supporting young workers and families. She has stressed the importance of youth involvement in politics and a more accessible style of representation. In short, she is a young Conservative MLA who has quickly become a notable figure for both her historic election win and her work mobilizing young voters around practical, right-leaning policy ideas. We need more like her in Alberta.

Ahem Madame Minister, you left something pretty relevant out. From 2021 to 2025, Pillay chaired the UNHRC's open-ended inquiry into Israel. Before taking it, she had signed a 2020 letter urging sanctions on "Apartheid Israel." Canada's special envoy on antisemitism at the time, Irwin Cotler (ever heard of him?), said the Commission was "tainted by its open-ended and prejudicial mandate." Your former boss's appointed UN ambassador, Bob Rae, called it "a never ending Inquisition." When her fellow commissioner on that inquiry Miloon Kothari said social media was "controlled largely by... the Jewish lobby" and asked why Israel is even a UN member, Canada condemned it. So did the US, the UK and Germany. Even the Council's own president warned the remarks could be read as stigmatizing Jews. Pillay's response? He'd been "deliberately misquoted." Kothari later apologized anyway. Feel free to praise real achievements. That's your prerogative. But you don't get to invoke "accountability" and "international law" while airbrushing the one role where Canada itself said her commission failed the basic test of impartiality. Either Ottawa meant what it said in 2022, or it didn't. Thanks for proving that, under Mark Carney, the latter holds true.
Congratulations to Navanethem “Navi” Pillay on receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. This recognition is a well-deserved honour at a time when international law and human rights face increasing pressure. From defending anti-apartheid activists in South Africa to serving as a judge and President of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), Dr. Pillay has dedicated her career to advancing justice and accountability. Her work reflects the importance of upholding peace and protecting human rights around the world.
