Our new preprint is now online! Bengi (@bengiruken)-Kaan (@KaanariciM)-Cansu (@hcansud) worked together to show that networks of neurodevelopmental disorders and cancer can have shared mutations, proteins, and pathways differing in mechanisms, signaling strength, and outcomes.
Neurodevelopmental disorders and cancer networks share pathways; but differ in mechanisms, signaling strength, and outcome biorxiv.org/cgi/content/shor… #biorxiv_sysbio
Congrats to Bengi Ruken Yavuz on her paper. She have recently presented this work as a poster at RECOMB-CCB sattelite meeting.
Despite cancer-wide existence of a set of driver genes, having double mutations in those genes is cancer type specific.
Cancer latent drivers can additively intensify the signal when coupled with other activating mutations. They have low frequency and escape idenfication. In this study, we explored the potential impact of “latent drivers” on cancer progression and cataloged 155 latent drivers.
Replying to @bengiruken
@bengiruken, @ntuncbag et al use a statistical methodology to identify potential latent driver mutations from public cancer bulk sequencing data.
