Tech claims for AI = 100% Current AI capability = ~3%
OK, it's four years since ChatGPT was opened up and the bubble really started. Outside of software development where the impact is huge, AI is neutral or negative. Something has to give. "Accelerationists" should be praying the blast radius will be contained. If the damage to the economic system are as big as I expect, then the political realignments I suggested a week ago will be really brutal and enduring. apollo.com/wealth/insights-n…

AI copyright lawsuits are coming thick and fast. In just the last couple of weeks: - USA Today & 18 other papers sued OpenAI - around 300 authors sued Meta - a pair of musicians sued Black Forest Labs The Black Forest Labs one is particularly interesting - I wouldn't be surprised if much bigger music rights holders follow suit. The pace of arrival of these lawsuits is speeding up, not slowing down.

Meta are playing fast and loose with EU law showing scant regard for #CopyrightDirective or #ArtistRights
If you're a business or artist with intellectual property, watch the clock. 10 days until Meta claims the right to scrape your website to develop its AI. Your consent? Apparently unnecessary. All it takes is someone sharing a link on Facebook or Instagram - or you using Meta's services.

If I steal your lunch but hand you back one potato, did I still steal your lunch?
Anthropic exploits the work of millions of creatives without paying them. This is not absolved by donating a fraction of the ill-gotten gains to the ‘public good’. If you want to work for the ‘public good’, start by not exploiting people.
