What I love about seeing everyone’s Godzilla rankings is that they are SO varied person to person with ones you might think are usually at the bottom in the top 10 and vice versa, and that’s beautiful. I’m always like yeah understandable. Godzilla is for everyone in that way

godzilla (1954) creates a monster that no other film in the franchise can match. there are many other godzillas, but only this one is such a beautiful, horrifying, tragic victim. is it nationalist? revisionist? sure. but it is also full of a reality impossible to imitate now
