Gertrude Elion's grandfather meant a great deal to her. When he died of cancer, she wanted to find a cure for the horrible disease. She ended up developing medicines that saved many lives. Elion saved all the letters she received from grateful patients.

Of around 1 million people in the UK with dementia, a small proportion of people are living with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). But what is this type of dementia and how can research lead to a cure?
Find out in our Q&A blog👇 alzheimersresearchuk.org/blo…
Our own Dr Niccoli recently talked to @AlzResearchUK about Frontotemporal Dementia, a disease we research in the lab. Read the blog here: tinyurl.com/msaxeest for a deep dive into this rare type of dementia. @IHAatUCL #FTD #FrontotemporalDementia
If you miss her earlier chat with @AlzResearchUK about FTD, read this Q&A tinyurl.com/54h59hu9 to learn what research to-date has revealed about this disease @IHAatUCL #FTD #FrontotemporalDementia
