Hawaii native SJSU tight end Kamaehu Kopa-Kaawalauole scored the game's first touchdown in his homecoming game against the Rainbow Warriors.
He told me this week's game was a moment he dreamed of.
“I remember when I was a little kid, I was always watching Hawaii football. It was always my dream to play in that stadium.”
Caleb Womack read that interception the whole way, what an incredible play to stifle a driving Cal Poly team #SJSU
It kind of amazes me how much tackling continues to be an issue for this team #SJSU
While the loss was expected, I really liked what the offense showed in the second-half, I’m super encouraged with what’s to come from them.
What encouraged me the most was the defense, they appear to be more solid in the secondary, the tackling still needs work though. #SJSU
It’ll be interesting to see what Coach Stutzmann does with this offense to try and get the ball moving on this USC defense.
Right now it looks like Luke Weaver just doesn’t have the time to push the ball down the field in typical SJSU fashion.

It looks like it’s going to be a looong day for this SJSU defense, that first drive from Maiava and the USC offense looked easy.
The first true test for this defense probably won’t come until WK2

Notable Quotes:
“It’s kinda fun embracing that role, I like being able to teach because that tests my knowledge of the offense too…being able to talk to dudes about their splits, whether it’s depth, distance. That’s been fun for me and it’s helped me grow my game too.” - Hoch on embracing a leadership role in the WR room.
“It’s a process, each day we’re getting a little bit better, but I love being around those guys and I can’t wait to see what we do together.” - Hoch on relationship with QB’s so far
