Most enjoyable day in Utheemu. Privileged to see @MMuizzu inaugurate the splendid Boduthakurufaanu Memorial Gate and the delightful Vaahaka Vau (Story Forest) to mark National Day. Much taken with the Story Forest - no electronics, just elegant wooden storyboards in the shade. – at Maldives

On #InternationalYouthDay, we are proud to celebrate OCdt Mubal Azzam Ibrahim, who has completed officer training at @RMASandhurst and commissioned into the @MNDF_Official.
Having also represented Maldives at the Olympics, he is an inspiring example of youth achievement. 🇬🇧🤝🇲🇻
Hugely saddened that two more of Maldives Finest appear to have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country and their fellow man. As a former emergency service worker, this is close to home. Greater love hath no man than he who would lay down his life for another. – at Maldives
It was great to discuss all things sport with @AbdhullahRafiu on Independence Day.
I had the pleasure of watching Team 🇲🇻 swimmers train in Hulhumalé before they travelled to Glasgow. I'm delighted to see their dedication being rewarded with a host of new records. Bravo! – at Maldives
Delighted to see Maldivians achieving GREAT things at the @Glasgow_2026 Commonwealth Games.
Congratulations to Team 🇲🇻 on this fantastic achievement and for representing the nation with pride on the international stage! 🏊
We wish all athletes continued success! 🇬🇧🇲🇻

Big thanks to @NHSBartsHealth, and the wonderful Dr Claire Fitzgerald and Orthopaedic Trauma Team at Newham University Hospital for rebuilding my right shoulder. Long haul ahead to get back to full fitness but I'm up for the challenge. Thank you for all the good wishes.
A great pleasure to welcome colleagues from @hrcmv (Human Rights Commission of Maldives) to the British High Commission. Honoured to receive the entire leadership for an informative and wide-ranging briefing on the Commission's important work. Look forward to staying in touch. – at Maldives
Very grateful for the warm welcome from HE Hassan Rasheed.
When a conversation covers everything from hydrography and counterterrorism to training and maritime security, you realise just how broad and deep our defence relationship is. Much done and much more that we should do. – at Maldives

Great news for British shoppers and Maldivian fishermen. The UK is suspending tariffs on tuna, helping bring prices down in the UK while opening better market access for Maldivian tuna. A win for affordability and sustainable tuna, caught one fish at a time. 🎣🐟

Recent reports of the Maldives Police Service raid on Adhadhu are troubling. The UK has consistently raised concerns about media freedom. The raid sits uneasily with Maldives’ commitment to Commonwealth standards. Free and independent media are essential to healthy democracy.
