“Kool Thing” was written by Sonic Youth and appears as the lead single from their 1990 major-label debut album Goo. The song grew out of an interview Kim Gordon conducted with LL Cool J for Spin magazine in 1989. Gordon came away disappointed by his attitude toward punk and women and channeled the encounter into the track. Public Enemy’s Chuck D contributed the spoken-word responses simply because he was recording down the hall at the same studio. Released in 1990, the song reached No. 7 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart and No. 81 on the UK Singles Chart. It became Sonic Youth’s highest-charting single on alternative radio at the time and remains one of their best-known tracks.

Gay man here 👋🏻 The LGB Alliance does not represent me or any LGB person I know. Its work is overwhelmingly focused on attacking trans rights, and it aligns itself with those who oppose LGBTQ+ equality. The government should not treat it as a credible voice for LGB people.
We’re pleased to be invited to give oral evidence to the joint committee scrutinising the draft Conversion Practices bill. It’s vital that they hear from the many LGB people opposed to this bill and understand the harms it could cause to LGB teens.

Musician John Cale, founding member of the Velvet Underground, met musician Lou Reed and began working with him in 1965. They formed a band called the Primitives and then the Falling Spikes. When Sterling Morrison and drummer Angus MacLise joined them they formed the Warlocks, which later became the Velvet Underground. MacLise later quit the band and was replaced with Maureen Tucker. Andy Warhol attended the Velvets' first concert and became their manager throughout 1966 and 1967. He added Nico to the group, produced their first album, "The Velvet Underground and Nico" in 1967, and booked concerts for them in many cities around the US. In 1968 Cale left the group to embark on a solo career. He also produced many albums for a range of musicians and created music tracks for movies including "Heat" (1972), a Warhol/Morrissey film. This "Screen Test" of Cale from 1966 includes zooming in and out and cuts to shots with the camera tilted left and right. Frenandes/Tonali/Maddison should be the midfield three going froward for the rest of the season (bar injury). Fernandes has been excellent. The interplay between the three has been crisp - and each player bringing their quality here. #COYS
