I highly recommend everyone reads this no matter your field or the stage of your career you are in. Felix has some great thoughts
The coding interview is dead, at least for my team at Anthropic. I've seen enough to know that it no longer provides signal. I removed it from loops this month. I have a spicy, optimistic take - I think there's an opportunity for junior engineers: felixrieseberg.com/hunger-be…

Did a stupid amount of DSA in my first two years of college. Then I realised I didn’t actually like it that much, so I just… stopped. Tried backend instead. Turns out that’s the part of software that actually holds my attention. DSA got me through interviews. Building real systems is what made me want to stay in this field.
this is so sad to read

One prompt of Argon drained 25% of my weekly usage. Gemini 4 Carbon will most probably one shot my entire weekly limit 💀
Introducing Gemini 4 Carbon, our latest frontier model. Carbon delivers improved performance across domains — ranking #1 on v5.0 of the @ArtificialAnlys Intelligence Index and sets a new state-of-the-art in cybersecurity and long-horizon capabilities. It’s rolling out starting this week to cyber defenders through our Fairwind Program, with expanded access coming soon 🧵

After giving 10+ Backend interviews, I found only 20 topics you should really master - Backend Fundamentals: 1. How the Server Works (Request–Response Cycle) 2. REST API Design Principles 3. HTTP Methods & Status Codes 4. Middleware & Request Flow 5. Authentication vs Authorization Node.js & Backend Runtime: 6. Event Loop & Non-Blocking I/O 7. Async/Await & Promises 8. Error Handling & Global Error Middleware 9. Environment Variables & Config Management 10. Logging & Debugging Databases: 11. SQL vs NoSQL (When to Use What) 12. Database Schema Design 13. Indexing & Query Optimization 14. Transactions & ACID Properties 15. Relationships (1–1, 1–Many, Many–Many) Security & Scalability: 16. JWT, Sessions & Cookies 17. Password Hashing & Security Best Practices 18. Rate Limiting & Caching (Redis) 19. Scalability Concepts (Load Balancing, Horizontal Scaling) 20. API Versioning & Deployment Basics If you master these, most backend interviews become predictable 🚀
