πŸŽ™οΈ This week's Big Pod is out now. The US Midterms were foremost in the episode, but we also talked about Reform's rape problems, the NHS and Palantir, further disability discrimination and some levity with a police helicopter tracing rude outlines in the sky. Links below. πŸ‘‡

This is a militia, make no mistake about it. The police have powers to close this down under the Public Order Act 1936 β€” it specifically prohibits quasi-military organisations. The most relevant part is that political enforcement or intimidation is central to the prohibition. Will the police act to stamp this out or will they allow more terrorism on our streets?

We chatted about the truly horrific breaking news that Reform UK councillor for Hampshire, George Madgwick, has been charged with 35 offences, including 12 of rape. This is obviously a very sensitive subject, but we tried to keep things factual and go over his background and previous controversies. Why do Reform UK have such a problem with sex offenders and racists? @dodgson_sally | @donmcgowan

This morning we wake up to Tucker Carlson's threat warning of a US nuclear attack in the Middle East. One day before the US Midterms. Tough-talking, warmongering rhetoric designed to amp up those MAGA loons that have no idea of the consequences of such a strike. This would, of course, be a catastrophic error and result in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people. Trump would be instantly designated a war criminal and the planet would have to end all trade with the United States. Or would it? Have we reached a point in history where a US President could launch a nuke without justification, wiping out populations … and the world would just turn the other way, whistling with their collective fingers in their ears? Maybe. In 2026, it feels to me that this is a possibility. World leaders will not stand up to Trump [except Carney] and I'm not sure now if anyone would even wag their fingers in anger if Trump launched a nuclear strike. He's spent years cultivating a level of mafia-style fear around himself and now feels invincible. Does this mean I think it will happen? No, not really. Trump is a deranged psychopath, but I doubt that even he's this dumb. The fallout, both literally and figuratively, would be catastrophic. Netanyahu tried similar rhetoric before his elections last week and it failed. Trump is destined to lose bigly this week so we should be prepared for unhinged chaos and possible civil unrest but nuclear strikes ... I suspect even he knows that it would be a step too far.
Under pressure from Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Trump administration may be within days of launching a nuclear strike on Iran. The target would be Pickax Mountain in central Iran, where Israeli intelligence claims the Iranian government has restarted its nuclear enrichment program. No conventional weapon in the American arsenal can penetrate 300 feet of solid granite to destroy the tunnels where enrichment is supposedly taking place. The only military option is a nuclear strike. Netanyahu has been pushing hard for one. β€œBibi calls Trump about it every day,” says an informed observer. Netanyahu is cornered and desperate. After last week’s election results, he can’t form a government unless Trump intervenes directly in Israeli politics and brokers a deal with other parties that gives Netanyahu 61 seats in the Knesset. Otherwise, he is out as prime minister and on his way to ignominy, investigations and possibly jail. Netanyahu must stay close to Trump. He needs this war. To that end, he’s applied maximum pressure to his closest allies in the administration, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper. Both oppose a negotiated settlement to the war they’ve so grievously mismanaged; both are pushing to restart major combat operations. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA director John Ratcliffe are also following Netanyahu’s lead, as are leaders of the Democratic Party. In a recent meeting on the subject, former president Barack Obama said he opposes the current Iran peace deal being drafted in Doha. The rest of America’s longtime allies in the Middle East are terrified by the prospect of more war. On September 27th, Netanyahu flew secretly to Abu Dhabi to enlist the UAE in his lobbying effort for a final attack on Iran. The Emiratis refused. After eight months of conflict, Gulf economies are teetering. So are global energy and fertilizer markets. They won’t recover soon. Globally, there are a total of about 850 supertankers used to transport oil from producers to the rest of the world. In October alone, 11 of them were badly damaged in Hormuz. At this pace, a global depression is imminent. A nuclear strike would radically accelerate the destruction. Fallout from a ground explosion at Pickax Mountain would contaminate the Persian Gulf, poisoning the water supply for 100 million people. And those are just some of the immediate consequences for the region. The rest of the world is every bit as exposed. No country other than the United States has ever used a nuclear weapon in war. Some would like to. An American nuclear attack on Iran would set a new precedent. The Russians have already told at least two other governments that an American nuclear strike on Iran would free them to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Pakistan and India would be tempted to do the same against each other, as would North Korea against Seoul. After the first nuclear strike, World War Three is inevitable. That war would be short and final. We’ve been sleepwalking toward this moment for months. Since February, the administration has quietly rewritten America’s nuclear doctrine to make first use of so-called β€œbattlefield nukes” easier and therefore more likely. No one in Washington in either party seems bothered by this. Now we’re on the brink of it. Close observers say Trump is likely to decide by next weekend whether or not to use nuclear weapons. That would be November 7, six days from now. To his credit, he’s hesitating. At the moment, Trump is listening to his vice president, JD Vance, and to his envoy and friend Steve Witkoff, both of whom argue a deal with Iran can be made. They’re right, though it won’t be simple. The Iranians are famously frustrating to negotiate with under any circumstances, and elements of that government have become more radical since Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family were killed in February. After decades of isolation, even relatively moderate Iranian leaders seem confused by how decisions are made in the West. (There is a widespread belief in Tehran, for example, that the United States government controls Israel.) But overall, people who have spoken to decision-makers in Iran say there is consensus there that more war is bad for everyone and a deal is worth making. One group that hasn’t been consulted so far is the global population β€” the hundreds of millions of people who will be killed along with their children if Trump is pushed by Netanyahu into launching a nuclear strike next week. Now would be the time for them to speak up.

@donmcgowan this is the danger that was threatening us peacefully opposing Farage on public land the day before the locals. @Nigel_Farage employed a rapist, under charge. @SarahForRuncorn doesn't know the half of it.

Another day, another failed vetting process for Reform UK. This one is much, much more serious, though. A member of Farage's close protection team has been jailed for 8 years for rape. Read that again and despair. THERE IS NO VETTING AT REFORM. theguardian.com/politics/202…

Catherine McKinnell β€” Minister of State for Prisons, Probation and Reducing Re-offending. You absolute degenerate, disrespectful, arrogant prat. She is in a position many, many times higher than you'll ever manage.
Waste Of Time... Today I asked another Minister (No idea who she is) a very simple question. Once again a Minister who does not know their brief. Vote @reformparty_uk

Do you see @PippaCrerar how your "exclusives" are often just pure theft? Find some integrity ffs.
The fact Ghandehari is arranging his affairs to make it legal for him to donate to Reform, suggests it hasn't been, which is why Β£200k was donated through a sham interior design company. I reported this to NCA in September last year.

Sir, 𝕏 is not where you report crime. Also, I’m 8,347% certain that this didn’t happen.
🚨BREAKING: A Conservative voter threatened to SHOOT me at a polling station yesterday, in Billericay East. A fellow Reform UK Councillor and I were forced to leave Billericay, and abandon our polling day operation, after threats to kill us were made by who I can only describe as an absolute lunatic. I will not be bullied out of public life, let me make myself very clear on that. Challenge my politics all you like but threaten me with a gun, and you cross a line that cannot be ignored.

Reform UK's private police in Colchester have been given an official reprimand after they illegally handcuffed two teenage girls. Operation Vanguard is a private security patrol employed at the cost of Β£150,000 to the taxpayer, to wander the streets of Braintree, Chelmsford and Colchester. If we look a little further though, unsurprisingly, Reform UK have some serious questions to answer. The BBC reported yesterday that two of the private police patrol, run by a firm called My Local Bobby, were officially rebuked by the police for illegally detaining these girls. Essex Police said two offences of assault without injury were recorded and β€œlearning requirements” had been β€œpassed to the security staff employers”. The Β£150,000 contract for Operation Vanguard was awarded without tender to My Local Bobby by Peter Harris, Reform leader of the council. The goons handcuffed two teenagers they believed to be shoplifting, but these security staff have zero powers of detention under the law. As you can see from Essex County Council's own website FAQs below, they have no powers at all. It feels to me that the citizens of Essex should be aware of this fact and be prepared to stand up to these glorified store detectives. FAQs state that they cannot arrest people, they have no powers of stop and search, no power to ask questions and absolutely zero enforcement powers. They are literally performing 'citizens arrests' and being paid Β£150,000 by the council for it. If those in Essex know this then it could easily open the council up to substantial lawsuits if their vigilantes carry on 'arresting' people illegally. Reform UK are wasting public money again and setting themselves up to be sued. Again. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crly…
