I'm in Georgia this morning. Gas prices are $3.65 per gallon on average, per AAA.
In Illinois, a gallon today costs $4.89.
Nearly $1.25 per gallon more expensive for Illinoisans.
One big reason? Gasoline taxes.
While @GovPritzker has been hiking gas taxes since 2019, now the 2nd- or 3rd-highest in the country, Georgia has kept them low.
And Gov. Kemp has even suspended the 33 cent motor fuel tax for now.

Police had to bring in a K-9 team to track Javiel Sola down after he fled the scene of the crash, leaving all three victims.
Javiel Sola has been not just arrested, but CONVICTED for reckless endangerment, failure to stop after accident involving damage to attended vehicle, and driving without a license in Maryland in July 2015 + he ALSO has an arrest for escaping from custody.
Despite all of this... he was never deported.

Most people think they know why Iran is dangerous. The missiles. The proxies. The "death to America" chants. All real. But none of it is the part that should actually keep you up at night.
The part nobody explains to you is what some of these men believe about how the world ends.
Here it is in plain English:
The branch of Islam that runs Iran believes in a figure called the Twelfth Imam, also known as the Mahdi. The story goes that over a thousand years ago, God hid him away as a child, and he's been alive and waiting in hiding ever since. One day he comes back. And when he does, he crushes evil, fills the earth with justice, and the final judgment of the world begins.
Now here's the catch, and it's the whole ballgame.
In this belief, the Mahdi doesn't show up in peaceful, happy times. He comes back when the world is drowning in chaos, war, and bloodshed.
The darkness is what summons him. The worse things get, the closer he is.
Sure, plenty of Muslims don't take any of this literally. Doesn't matter. It's not the guy on the street in Tehran who should worry you. It's the men holding the weapons.
And the men holding the weapons are the WORST of them.
The regime itself was built on this.
Its whole reason to exist is to hold the fort until the Mahdi returns. Their former president Ahmadinejad said it out loud, poured money into the shrine where they believe he reappears, and flatly stated his job was to prepare the world for the return.
But the real danger is the IRGC and the Quds Force.
These are not the regular army. They're the fanatical core, the true believers, the vanguard of the entire revolution. They run the proxies. They built the martyrdom cult. And this end-times belief burns hottest right there, in the exact hands that control Iran's hard power.
Now connect the dots.
Everything that's kept nukes from being fired for 80 years rests on one assumption. Your enemy wants to live. They call it mutually assured destruction, and it only works if both sides fear death. You don't push the button because you know you die too.
So what do you do with men who believe the fire at the end of the world isn't the end? Who believe that cataclysm is the doorway their savior walks through? For them, the very thing that stops everyone else isn't a deterrent. It might be the point!
That's the nightmare. Not that Iran is crazy. That a piece of its leadership might be rational by a logic where burning down the world counts as winning.
You cannot deter a man who's not afraid to die. And you sure as hell cannot hand him a nuke.
That's why this one red line is the only one that matters. These people can never be allowed to go nuclear. Not because of what they'd do in a war. Because of what they believe comes after one.

🚨 DISGUSTING: Police say a man took a SLEDGEHAMMER to the Iwo Jima statue outside Marine Corps Base Quantico and knocked the HEAD off one of the Marines.
Officers say they caught 27-year-old Miguel Alonso Maldonado Soriano "actively damaging" the monument Wednesday night.
Damage is estimated in the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dollars.
He's charged with felony injury to a monument and felony destruction of property, and he's being held without bond.
Those Marines bled on Iwo Jima so this country would stay free.

The guy in charge of the ballots in Champaign County, Illinois is under federal indictment. He's also on the ballot.
Clerk Aaron Ammons is charged with obstruction for allegedly helping cover for his wife, a Democrat state rep facing eight counts of wire fraud. He asked to push his own federal trial to December so he could run this election, and he got it.
So how's that going? His office mailed more than 600 ballots with the wrong state House races on them. Early voting got shut down, and a lot of voters found out when they showed up. 28 people already voted on bad ballots, and those votes can't be fixed.
One of the races they botched is a seat the Republican won by 269 votes last time. His wife's district got scrambled too.
This is the same office that blamed a "cyberattack" in 2022, had an outage on Election Day 2024, and printed a GOP candidate's name as "Tad."
Congress gave him until Friday to explain himself. Republicans asked Illinois AG Kwame Raoul to step in, and his office wouldn't even comment.
If an indicted Republican clerk pulled this three weeks before an election, it would be on every network for a week. Instead it's crickets.

España va por el mismo camino. Según Garicano, desde 2024 cobran del Estado 18,2 millones de personas, más que los 17,9 millones que trabajan en el sector privado, y la EPA ya cuenta más empleados públicos que autónomos. Gastamos el 45% del PIB y el último superávit fue en 2007.
Me explico. Cuando más de la mitad de los votantes vive del Estado, ningún político se atreve a tocar el gasto, porque recortarlo es perder elecciones. Se paga con deuda y con impuestos al que produce, cada vez produce menos gente y la vida se encarece para todos. En las calles de Francia se pide más Estado para curar lo que causó el exceso de Estado.
Argentina eligió el camino contrario. Milei recortó el gasto primario un 27% en términos reales en su primer año y cerró 2024 con el primer superávit financiero en más de una década. Llevo toda la vida creando empresas en España y en Estados Unidos, y sé que cada empleo privado paga una parte del sueldo de alguien que cobra del Estado. Cuando los que cobran superan a los que pagan, la cuenta no sale.
Ningún Estado puede mantener a más gente de la que lo mantiene a él.
