Loki fans swear this show has peak writing, but episode one had to invalidate ten years of Marvel storytelling with a cheap gag just to manufacture stakes.
Gamora got thrown off a cliff, Tony Stark sacrificed himself, and half the universe spent five years in mourning over objects a desk clerk keeps rolling around next to his highlighters. The entire emotional spine of the MCU was reduced to office stationery just to give Tom Hiddleston a shocked face reaction.
It didn't make the TVA feel dangerous, it just proved the writers couldn't build a new threat without cannibalizing the old one

Tom Hiddleston reveals what the Loki directors asked him to do before he filmed the final throne scene
"Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson gave me this amazing instruction 'Why don’t you go and sit in your trailer and have a think about the journey it’s taken to get here for you? Not for Loki, but for you"
"I thought about the 15 years. I thought about Kenneth Branagh. I thought about Chris Hemsworth. All the original six Avengers. Every director, every crew member, every costumer, every makeup artist"
"Of course I’m playing Loki, and Loki’s holding all the timelines together. But in my own heart, I’m holding all those people...Loki is sitting alone at the end of time. But I’m sitting here with all of you so be in it with me"
