What an atlas from the @TeichLab and @NosedaLab! 🤯 Sam Barnett (@sn_barnett), @Ana_Cujba, and Ling Yang (@edenling3) developed a #vascular cell atlas integrating #SingleCell data of 19 organs and tissues. 🔖 @NatureMedicine: go.nature.com/3Ou3B8e 💬: bit.ly/4g70Sxm

Why do we love it? ➡️Because it improves how new (and old) treatments are evaluated and how they affect organs and tissues. ➡️It allows for checking specific cell targets of drugs in organs of the body where single cell data are available.

…predict those from new drugs. It also enables to perform in silico 🖥️ drug screening, as well as to identify new medicines that target specific cells, introducing a new level of precision 🎯.

What are the advantages? To identify specific cellular targets of bioactive molecules with drug properties based on single-cell RNA-seq data. This can potentially reveal hidden mechanisms of action on specific cell types to understand known side effects, and... (more on next one)

Once the drug scores are calculated, you can then find cells which are targeted by drugs of interest or find drugs💊 which target cells of interest, such as heart pacemaker cells in the published paper.

How does it work? Drugs & target molecules can be queried and filtered based on: ⏺️Activity of drug-target interaction 💊Drug categories 🩺Clinical trial phase 🧫Classes of molecular targets.

Our tool takes pairs of drugs and their target molecules from drug databases such as @EMBL-EBI’s ChEMBL database. It leverages single-cell profiles and the database’s 19 M drug-target interactions. ebi.ac.uk/chembl/

Drug2cell allows us to make mechanistic inferences, including drugs’ side effects such as those impacting  heart rate ❤️. It stems from a collaboration from @Sangerinstitute @imperialcollege and others.
