The new UNECE rules for Tesla's FSD (Supervised) are not that bad: 1. System-initiated manoeuvres are now allowed everywhere βœ… 2. No wheel nags on motorways/highways βœ… 3. No confirmations required βœ… But Tesla still needs to make a few changes. More on this in the video:

Tesla Korea πŸ‡°πŸ‡· has formally asked Korea's transport ministry to approve FSD (Supervised) TAD. Right now, 185,491 of Korea's 238,968 Teslas (77.6%) can't use it. Bloter reported that the request went to the ministry (MOLIT) this week by email and registered post. At the National Assembly transport committee audit on 23 Oct, Minister Hong Ji-seon acknowledged it, saying it had been sent by email dated the 22nd. The minister added that the ministry "will also look at the international discussions", but gave no timeline. This follows an exchange on 8 Oct. Rep. Jang Jong-tae pointed Tesla to a special provision in Korea's vehicle safety rules that lets the minister accept foreign standards. Tesla Korea CEO Seo Young-deuk then said Tesla would pursue a formal approval application, Newspim and Yonhap reported. The 53,477 Teslas that can use it (22.4%) are US-built, accepted under the Korea-US trade deal. The rest are 183,407 China-built Model 3 and Model Y, plus 2,084 US-built Model S and X on HW3. These are Tesla Korea's end-of-September figures, given to Rep. Jang's office. In Europe, approval goes through RDW, the Dutch approval authority, and the UNECE rules. It looks like Korea now has a formal request to answer, and a rule that gives the minister a way to do it.

Since April 2026, over 5,700 people have died on the roads of Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Poland, the five biggest EU countries that haven't approved FSD (Supervised) TAD. It's the delay that frustrates me. More than six months after the Dutch approval, the biggest markets are still waiting on their regulators. Decide on the evidence, and decide soon.

Over the past year, I have built a comprehensive platform that alerts me to almost everything about Tesla FSD/TAD. I'm wondering if this would be a useful perk for my Patreon supporters. - If so, what's it worth to you?

FSD competitors seem to be ready to launch under the new UNECE rules in 2027. Tesla must NOT be left behind because they don't want to change the software.
Mercedes, BMW, Xpeng, Denza and Zeekr all target 2027 for city-street driving assistance in Europe πŸ™οΈ FSD (Supervised) TAD is already approved in 9 EU countries.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ It's 99* days until the new "FSD (Supervised)" rules are expected to apply, and for UK drivers, this is the date that matters most. UN R171 Series 02 was adopted in June, and I estimate it will take effect around 31 January 2027, though the official date still hasn't been published. The UK is a party to the UNECE 1958 Agreement, and the VCA is the UK's approval authority. From then on, Tesla can apply for standard UN type approval for FSD (TAD) instead of an exemption, as long as the software is updated to meet the new rules. So how soon after that could UK drivers actually get it? Full breakdown: xitter.cf/NotAnFSDTracker/status…

Tesla owners are being offered 2 months of FSD (Supervised) TAD free, then 2,400 Kč a month πŸ‡¨πŸ‡Ώ The Czech Republic approved it on 21 Sep, and HW4 cars running 2026.32.x got the update on 7 Oct. The offer can vary by account.

Demand isn't the problem for FSD anymore πŸ“ˆ Tesla's Q3 shareholder presentation: 1.74M active FSD subscriptions (+67% YoY), and a North America attach rate over 75%. Europe has 100,000+ users in just the 9 countries where it's available. The demand is there. The approvals aren't.

Cybercab is running in Austin, and on Wednesday's Q3 call Tesla said it'll launch in Dallas next month. So what would it take in London? The UK's driverless taxi permits have been live since May under the Automated Vehicles Act. The operator applies to the DVSA, then TfL has six weeks to consent or give written reasons. If TfL doesn't reply, consent is deemed given. For a car with no steering wheel, the bigger step is vehicle approval. Government guidance says the approval rules haven't yet been adapted for cars without manual controls. The rest of the Automated Vehicles Act, including full authorisation, is due in the second half of 2027.

Luxembourg is leaving FSD (Supervised) TAD to the EU πŸ‡±πŸ‡Ί Its minister says it's driver assistance, Luxembourg wasn't involved in the Dutch approval, and any change must follow EU procedures. The Netherlands and Belgium approved it. The EU vote is December at the earliest.

I predict that in the EU and the UK, kids won't want to drive themselves in less than 10 years. Thoughts? xitter.cf/DVSAgovuk/status/21125…

πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί πŸ‡³πŸ‡Ώ Cybertruck is officially CANCELLED for Australia and New Zealand. Tesla emailed reservation holders: "After careful consideration, plans to produce Cybertruck for Australia and New Zealand have been discontinued." Reservations are being cancelled and payments refunded in full. Some Australians paid their A$150 deposit back in 2019. So is the UK next? Cybertruck is only built in left-hand drive. It has no UK or EU type approval, and the DVSA says no Cybertruck has passed IVA. Tesla UK took Β£100 reservations from 2019 too. Tesla hasn't said anything about them yet. My thoughts: Australia drives on the left. If that market couldn't justify a right-hand drive Cybertruck, I don't think the UK will get them now.

πŸ‡³πŸ‡± Want to try FSD (Supervised) TAD in the Netherlands? Tesla is offering test drives in Utrecht tomorrow. They're at the Tesla Owners Club Grand Prix, at TeamSport's indoor kart track in The Wall, on Saturday 24 Oct from 14:30 to 18:00. You sign up for a test drive on Tesla's event page. Racing in the Grand Prix itself is booked separately through the club. This is where it started in Europe. The RDW approved it on 10 April, the first approval in Europe.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³ On Wednesday night's Q3 call, Tesla said they are actively working with regulators in China and has published both its FSD safety report and its unsupervised robotaxi safety report. They pointed to how many crashes happen because drivers aren't alert, and said: "Any regulator who looks at the data would find it very hard to refute." I think regulators in Europe and the UK should be looking at that same data.
