THIS IS SIPHO “BRICKZ” NDLOVU. He was a well-known South African musician. In 2017, the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court convicted him of raping a teenage relative and sentenced him to 15 years’ imprisonment. This was someone the victim knew and who occupied a position of trust within the family. The fact that an offender is famous, respected or familiar does not make that person safe. Sexual violence is not always committed by strangers. Sometimes it is committed by people who already have access to their victims. Parents and families should be able to establish whether a person has a previous conviction for a serious sexual offence. A public reputation cannot erase a court conviction. #OpenTheRegister IC

BREAKING: The 36-year-old alleged pastor who was wanted in connection with the murder of a four-month-old baby and the alleged rape of her 43-year-old mother has been arrested. The suspect was arrested this afternoon, 10 October 2026, at Diepsloot following an intensive investigation involving detectives and Crime Intelligence. He was found hiding in a backroom in Diepsloot informal settlement, with injuries. The arrest brings the total number of suspects arrested in connection with the incident to three, including the suspect’s two wives, who appeared before the Atteridgeville Magistrates' Court on 09 October 2026. The suspect is expected to appear before court on Monday, 12 October 2026.
The police have launched a manhunt for a man following the alleged rape of a 43-year-old mother and the murder of her four-month-old baby, whose body was discovered buried in a shallow grave on Wednesday, 07 October 2026. Preliminary information indicates that the woman had gone to hennops river near R511 road accompanied by her pastor and his wife for a ritual. Upon arrival, the pastor’s wife reportedly remained behind with the baby while the pastor and the woman proceeded towards the river. It is alleged that the woman was subsequently raped and tied up. The victim managed to free herself and sought assistance at a nearby construction site. A private security company was activated and the police were alerted. A multidisciplinary team comprising Crime Scene Management, Search and Rescue, General Detectives, Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) detectives, as well as drone operators, was immediately deployed to search for the missing infant and locate the pastor and his wife. The 24-year-old wife of the pastor was subsequently located and questioned by police. She led investigators to a shallow grave where the baby’s body was found. Police have opened a case of kidnapping, rape and murder. The investigation is underway, while the manhunt for the pastor continues.

President of #NOTINMYNAME says that the R90K bill of the 13 Rhodes University students should not become the responsibility of students who were unlawfully arrested. Instead @SAPoliceService should pay for it! Courtesy of @mailandguardian 🔗 mg.co.za/news/education/2026…
#NOTINMYNAME DEMANDS @SAPoliceService ACCOUNTABILITY AND IMMEDIATE COVERAGE OF LEGAL FEES FOR 13 UNJUSTLY ARRESTED RHODES UNIVERSITY STUDENTS #NotInMyName strongly condemns the continuous pattern of heavy-handedness, unlawful detention, and victimisation targeted at students by the South African Police Service (SAPS). The unjust arrest of 13 Rhodes University students in Makhanda during recent peaceful fee protests represents a glaring abuse of state power and an ongoing intimidation tactic meant to criminalize student voices and constitutional rights. It is unconscionable that young individuals, pursuing their constitutional right to protest and demand accessible education, are subjected to tear gas, rubber bullets, wrongful arrest, and psychological trauma. The subsequent financial burden of legal expenses resulting from these arrests should not fall on the shoulders of students or the broader community. The responsibility for the financial fallout of these reckless actions belongs solely to the SAPS. We demand that the South African Police Service immediately assume full liability and pay all incurred legal fees amounting to R90,000 for the defense of these 13 falsely detained students. Students and their representative bodies, such as the Rhodes University Student Representative Council (SRC), should not be forced to launch fundraising campaigns or rely on public donations to settle legal costs stemming from state-sponsored harassment. The SAPS must be held accountable for the administrative and financial damages caused by unlawful detentions. Taxpayers and students must not foot the bill for police overreach. We call on the Minister of Police and the National Police Commissioner to intervene without delay, ensure the immediate reimbursement and settlement of these legal bills, and issue a public apology to the affected students. #NotInMyName remains unwavering in its stance against state brutality and will continue to mobilize until full justice, financial restitution, and accountability are realized for the 13 students. THE PEOPLE WE NEED TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT FROM. This is Mortimer Saunders. He was convicted of raping and murdering three-year-old Courtney Pieters and received two life sentences. Three years old. We remember Courtney. We should also remember the face of the man convicted of doing this to her. South Africa has a National Register for Sex Offenders, but ordinary South Africans cannot freely search it. That must change, lawfully and with proper protection for victims. #OpenTheRegister IC

THE PEOPLE WE NEED TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT FROM. This is Stefan van Niekerk and Rochelle Botha. They were convicted of serious offences arising from the abuse and murder of two-year-old Chevonne Rusch. Their convictions also included rape involving another minor child. I followed this case closely. Chevonne deserved protection. So did the other child. South Africa already maintains a National Register for Sex Offenders. Ordinary people cannot freely search it. #OpenTheRegister IC
