This morning I was encouraging a game dev who wanted to give up. I'll give you the same encouragement here: Success demands intensity of focus. You need spectacular amounts of delusional faith in your project to push it over the line. We all have breaking points, where you feel like you have given more than you have to give. Push past that point. Answer your hardship with hard work. Fix what you have to fix, change what you have to change, do what you have to do. Those of us with no contacts and no money do not have the luxury that the rich and the connected have. We have to dig deeper, be braver, and shut down every signal that our self-preservation instinct throws at us. Convert your fear, your desperation, and every feeling of inadequacy into fuel. Work longer hours for longer periods of time than anybody else. Work multiple jobs if you have to. Pioneers and Entrepreneurs do not have the luxury of comparing ourselves to normal people. We have to get used to taking a beating. Knuckle down and toughen up. It's ok to whine and complain, just do it while you work! If you want the life of your dreams, you are gonna have to get used to slaying your nightmares. You've got this friend! Learn to become unkillable, and your dreams will follow!
