You can disagree with some (or all) of the tactics and rhetoric of the student protesters at Columbia--and I'm happy to debate this in the future--but right now this is very simple: The Trump administration is trying to deport someone for speech they don't agree with. That is all
Starting now, the right wing and some of their Democrat establishment enablers will defame Palestinian American Columbia student Mahmoud Khalil as he remains missing after a White House directed ICE deportation order. A "dangerous" negotiator co leading a non violent protest. A permanent resident with a wife who is 8 months pregnant. Without any trial. If we don't all work to reverse this and end this, you're eventually next. No matter who you are.

The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.

The Trump administration is scrubbing the CDC’s website of documents on reproductive rights issues, sexual health, intimate partner violence, and more. I'm trying to save them. You can find the deleted docs at CDCGuidelines.com - I'll be adding more over the weekend.

When she happened upon Gloria Steinem’s “The Beach Book,” @NotSorrySari recounts, it was like discovering buried treasure, a time capsule from the 1960s. What did it mean for the queen of the second wave to write a book so superficial and silly? buff.ly/40RD5N1

Patti Smith sang a very emotional cover of 'Summertime Sadness' by Lana Del Rey at @Vicar_Street tonight. She said the song makes her reflect on moments she had with her late husband, Fred Smith.

"The film’s real subject is bourgeois domesticity, the mundane concerns of child-rearing, household management, class striving; it is about the way the private family becomes its own fortress and how its insularity, atomization, and privatization enable horrific violence."

Close-up shots of flowers in The Zone of Interest reveal "what the family does to scale and focus; the outsized images of flowers suggest the disproportionate attention lavished on domestic endeavors even while human beings next door are subjected to gruesome acts of brutality."

i truly hope that these blows to the fragile diversity, access, inclusion frame encourage students, staff & faculty to organize for more transformational education, like open enrollment, free tuition, dropping standardized tests, community control mechanisms over private boards

This isn't just a regional phenomenon — in Boston, life expectancy in Back Bay is almost 92 years, while in parts of Roxbury just a 1/2 mile away it's less than 59 years.
