And for a while, it worked spectacularly well.
But there was a fundamental problem. Users were being trained to extract value from applications instead to create value inside them. They transformed users into mercenaries.
When token prices stopped rewarding that behavior, the model began to collapse. And instead of returning to the original question "what useful can we build on TON?" they found an easier form of monetization - speculation without pretending there was a product underneath.
Technology that demonstrated an extraordinary ability to distribute applications to hundreds of millions of people is now being used by people against one another.
💎 But!
Telegram is still an extraordinary distribution tool. With TON attached.
But what is the key change? What can builders do rn?
Exactly what we did last 2 years. Do boring but extremely important for TON future projects. Make ❤️TON boring! And bring real economy instead of manipulations and speculations.
We need to make TON (and NOT of course) something people actually need to buy - not because its pumping, hyping, or because every influencer bought it.
TON needs demand, not hype.
The real win is when people use TON every day without even thinking they’re using blockchain.
That’s exactly why we build projects like ⭐️Talents. Shortly (right after we finish some legal questions) clients will be allowed to pay for projects by cards / IBAN transfers and get work done without even knowing that freelancer got paid in Gram / TON USDT.
But they buy Gram in deed while making order. And it creates liquidity inflow to TON ecosystem.
This is a beauty of boring TON. Make TON boring.
Make Make TON boring a new narrative.
@ton_blockchain
Well. 🔑
In 2024 (or, more precisely, beginning in late 2023) a fascinating series of events occurred:
Notcoin reshaped the narrative around TON. It was no longer seen merely as an old Telegram-related crypto project whose original incarnation, Gram, had been halted following the SEC case.
Instead, Notcoin demonstrated that TON could be seamlessly integrated into Telegram Mini Apps and that Telegram itself could become a distribution layer for consumer Web3 applications.
The emerging vision was essentially Telegram as the Web3 equivalent of WeChat:
Mini Apps as applications, Telegram as the distribution, identity, and social layer, and TON as the financial and ownership layer underneath - open, permissionless, and without a traditional centralized financial intermediary.
Notcoin was the proof of concept that this model could reach tens of millions of ordinary users.
But what happened next? 🤔
The market made its choice.
Why spend months building something genuinely useful, developing ecosystem infrastructure, or experimenting with new products when you could simply copy, or, more accurately, plagiarize - whatever had just gone viral?
Notcoin proved that Telegram could distribute a Web3 product to tens of millions of users. But instead of treating that as proof that entirely new categories of products could be built on TON, much of the market interpreted it as a recipe:
Mini App + simple mechanic + referrals + points + promised token = users.
Hundreds of projects began reproducing essentially the same model. Innovation was replaced by iteration, and iteration quickly became imitation.
The original narrative - Telegram as a distribution layer for a new generation of consumer applications - gradually narrowed into something much less ambitious:
🔫 Telegram as a distribution layer for speculation.
Instead of asking “What useful product becomes possible because Telegram and TON exist together?”, the market increasingly asked:
“What can we launch quickly enough to suck money before the next project does?”

Sentiment among the lower TON community inspired me to write this post
A part of TON community, which is mired in casinos and gifts. Gifts that are killing original NFT collections every day and literally sucking liquidity out of the entire market.
The scheme goes like this: gift → upgrade → dump at floor price → off to the casino.
And this scheme works largely because of the artificially created hype surrounding these gifts. When a new gift is released, instead of treating it as an experiment, people buy it at any price - and now find themselves down 50% or more after upgrades.
But this is merely a matter of utility. And so far, they haven’t been able to come up with a solution.
The “flex” in the profile is a weak utility, especially considering their supply.
And some people support this, while simultaneously spewing hate at indie artists and developers, even though it seems like they have nothing to do with it 🙂
And these people find it all very funny - they’re laughing at all of us.
But we’re the ones who should be laughing (I’m laughing, right here: ha-ha). Because they don’t understand what we’re building - even after we announced it, even after we launched a couple of massive projects - they still don’t get it. And that’s a good thing.
We’re building a new narrative on TON. Together with the community, we’re creating a massive influx of liquidity - something that neither gifts nor your shitty casinos will ever be able to provide. We’re the resistance and we are genuine TON community, and you’re not.

Introducing Talents - a zero-trust freelancing platform built on ❤️TON.
🤔 What makes it different from other freelancing platforms?
1. 🤩 Trust enforced by code, not promises.
No intermediaries, no custody of your funds, no guesswork - just smart contracts that do exactly what you agreed to.
2. 🤏Tiny comissions.
As low as 5% for everyone. 50% disount on project comissions for projects created with NOT and GRC jettons.
3. 😎 No waiting.
No payment cycles, no money freezing. You get your funds as soon as client has released them from smart contract.
4. ❤️ With TON in the heart.
Get paid in 💎GRAM, 🪙USDT, 🪙 NOT or 🤩GRC — fast, low-fee settlement on The Open Network.
5. ✨ Telegram-native.
Sign in with Telegram, message clients, and get real-time alerts. The whole workflow lives where you already spend your day.
6. 👍 Milestones or project-based.
You can split the project into several stages during the client bidding process and receive payment immediately for each completed stage, or for the entire project.
7. 💯 No ghost projects.
When you see a project or receive an offer, the funds are already fully allocated in the smart contract. Sending offers is free, unlike on other freelance platforms.
The Talents platform was created to help you develop your projects with minimal costs and maximum convenience and reliability. It's also designed for talents who deserve to shine.

What a beautiful Monday night.
And it's definitely a great chance to get some classics

Post Monday vibe makes me to drop limited time offer :)
Buy & burn 15 ETH owls and get 1 cusom TON owl from owldaddy!
2 first buyers only, 1 hour left.
Only already listed owls eligible. 🔑
Let's talk a bit about Ethereum. 👀
As you know, the owls from the main collection on the TON blockchain will receive thanks from me upon the game's launch and in the future from all projects my team creates.
I believe it would be wrong to shortchange owls on the Ethereum blockchain. But to achieve this, we won't split the payouts between collections.
Instead, I will systematically buy back owls on the TON blockchain and distribute their rewards to owls on the Ethereum blockchain 💥
I believe this is fair 🔑
The rules for rewarding Ethereum owls will be announced a little later.
Nine out of 10 paintings for random NFTs on Ethereum are also ready.
Love you and Mondays.
Thanks to the Telegram team and Dmitri personally for helping fix a performance bug in MiniApps.
At the end of December, we discovered a bug in Telegram Android client that limited the frame rate regardless of the code optimization level. The effect was most noticeable on low-end Android devices.
The next Telegram client update will add a fix that will help the entire Telegram mini-app industry, especially those where the code is executed just in time.
🤝
Tomorrow is Today!
Happy New Year, frens!
