Been in hospital for 11 days now and it’s been really eye-opening to see how desperately the NHS needs help. I mean, I’ve obviously known it for ages but this has REALLY helped me to understand it.

My favourite thing about the general election coverage, by a *ahem* landslide, is the amount of live counting station cameras. I can’t get enough of people sprinting through leisure centres with plastic boxes. #GeneralElection2024
…and Sunderland South take the victory in the real competition of the night!! Their leisure centre may not look as flash as Blyth’s but their tactics on the night were clearly sound. Good game. #SunderlandSouthVsBlyth #GeneralElection2024

Exit Poll reaction: On course to lose so many seats the Conservatives might be downgraded from a party to a gathering
Should ballot counting be our national sport? Some promising youngsters on display this evening in the Blyth vs Sunderland South fixture. #GeneralElection2024
Well, I’m a patient England fan but even I think that was really awful. Seems a fair assessment to say thay we’re slightly better than Serbia and on a par with Denmark. Significantly less than the sum of our parts. Lacking. #bbcfootball #EURo2024
Seems quaint now to think that most of the pre-tournament concern was about the defence. Our back five actually look pretty stable. Other areas clearly in more urgent need of work. #bbcfootball #EURo2024
For all the salivating over our attacking options (and rightly so), we are such a poor attacking team and create so few chances. Both our goals have been deflected crosses, one from a poor defensive error. Very frustrating. #bbcfootball
Why do we play with such a lack of intensity and energy? So slow and one paced. We’ve got enthusiastic, dynamic players on the bench who would surely instil a little fear in the Denmark defence. Really hoping we get to see Palmer, Eze or Gordon at some point. #bbcfootball

As my excellent colleague @jbraidwo points out, a celebration to sum it up. Coaching staff one side, players another
Notice which coach went straight to their team at the end. Wiegman adored and respected by her team. England united despite defeat. Spain united despite Vilda. #bbcfootball #FIFAWomensWorldCup – at East, England
Devastated. That was so frustrating but it has to be said that Spain were the technically superior side and executed their game plan to perfection. #bbcfootball #Lionesses – at East, England
YESSS! Justice!! Yes Mary Earps. Didn’t take a pro lip reader to work out what she was saying after that save!! 😂#BBCFootball #Lionesses – at East, England
