Every journal editor's inbox right now. Generative AI has turned systematic and scoping reviews into a mass-manufacturing assembly line. We’ve gone from rigorous evidence synthesis answering clinical dilemmas to synthetic meta-narratives built around questions nobody asked, answering problems that don't exist. Publishers love them because every automated "systematic review" brings a $ APC with zero lab auditing overhead. Citation cartels love them because reviews are lazy citation magnets that inflate Impact Factors without doing a single day of actual benchwork. The system isn't broken; it is functioning exactly as commercial publishing designed it: monetize volume, reward citation churn, and leave editors to shovel the algorithmic sand! 🚜📈💵 #MotorShastra #AcademicPublishing #ImpactFactor #APC #PeerReview #GoodhartsLaw
As an Editor, in past ~6mo, we are receiving an avalanche of unsolicited review articles (“scoping” “systematic”, narrative, NOS) on topics and ?s NO ONE EVER has asked and clearly with heavy AI lift. Even the cover letters all read the same…alarming and sad. #publishing

This was a good time. I played the role of Curious George.
🧬 Thrilled by the incredible success of our CNS Genetics Summit 2026! Our third year bringing together expertise in medical education and genomics, with a shared vision of making genetic testing part of everyday clinical practice.

If you’ve listened to Immature Brains, you’d already know all this stuff, but if you haven’t, you can learn about the history of med ed in child neurology at #CNSAM @OligoclonalBand

We’re back, baby!
I started listening to this again today (to check the sound, and then I got sucked in) and honestly I think it's one of our best podcasts. Interested in neurodevelopmental disabilities and how we care for the whole patient? Take a listen!

I enjoy using IGV, but I need a more efficient tool for analyzing diploid genomes. So, I developed one for myself. It provides exceptional GPU acceleration, allowing me to uncover all essential information spanning six orders of magnitude. #bioinformatics #genomics #visualization

Tryptophan is the tenured senior professor of amino acids. It negotiated a private parking spot, its own codon, and then spent the entire department budget on synthesizing serotonin.

This is wild. Smells like a class action lawsuit to me.
Earlier this week I posted an example of a fake western blot provided by ThermoFisher to demonstrate the validity of a p53 antibody. I considered it an amusing curiosity. In fact ThermoFisher has systematically manipulated antibody validation data. Short Thread... 🧵

Surprised to discover that Thermo Fisher appears to show a fake western blot for the validation of one of their p53 antibodies. I've added a diagram to show the very similar bands. This does not appear to be one of the "published figures", but their own internal data.

Heartwarming: When Dan Orlovsky's autistic son, Madden, joined NFL Live and made everyone on set cry while highlighting Autism Awareness Day with his drawings. You can just see how proud Dan is of his son. What a special moment captured 🥹❤️
