Not only is this dumb and immature—and not what Mizzou should be about, rivalry or not—but the Transfer Portal has made this kind of manufactured allegiance even more ridiculous.
Players transfer for playing time. Money. Opportunity. Coaches leave for better jobs. Players leave for better situations.
So let’s be honest: how many players actually give a damn about your rivalry?
Same goes for the NFL. A lot of these rivalries are for the fans and the cameras. Unless a player is from that area or has some real personal connection, I’m not convinced they care nearly as much as we pretend they do.
The fans care.
The business cares.
The players? More often than not, they’re trying to win and get paid.
That’s the reality.

This is NOT a political issue & shouldn't be made into one. It's physics & human anatomy. Sophie Cunningham is correct.
A thread/example 🧵:
The fastest woman in history is Florence Griffith-Joyner, fabulously known as Flo-Jo 🏃🏾♀️ 💅
Her world record in the 100 meter dash is an astonishing 10.49 seconds. This record has stood completely untouched for decades & still stands today 🥇
When compared to professional men, Flo-Jo's all-time historic speed is heavily outmatched by the biological & physiological realities of male sprinting mechanics.
At the professional Men's Level, Flo Jo would be UNRANKED. According to World Athletics data, over 1,900 men have run faster than Flo-Jo’s 10.49 second women's world record. Her time would fail to qualify for any standard professional or NCAA men’s track meet.
Her 10.49-second mark aligns perfectly with the elite U.S. high school boys' level.
76 high school boys ran faster than Flo-Jo's record in 2019 alone.
It's nowhere near fair to amazing women athletes that work hard their whole lives to compete against biological men.
So, how will this new NCAA eligibility work for BYU players who do Mormon mission trips? Do they just lose those years of eligibility while they are on their mission trips?
This dude doesn't give a crap at all and I'm here for it.
Charles Barkley is practically begging ESPN to fire him after his viral Cardi B joke during the NBA Finals. 😂
After joking, “Those might be Cardi D’s,” Barkley was asked if ESPN had a problem with it.
🗣️ “I’m hoping they fire me… I would love for them to fire me and have to pay me for the next six or seven years.”
He then doubled down:
🗣️ “People can’t take a joke? They can kiss my ass. My whole ass, not just one cheek.” 😳

Luke Falk shared a Mike Leach story that stopped me cold:
Two kids. One rich. One poor.
Every training camp, Coach Leach told his team about these 2 kids.
The rich kid has two choices.
Get soft. Get entitled. Expect everything handed to him because he was handed more.
Or take the resources, the coaching, the opportunities, and compound them into something greater.
The poor kid has two choices too.
Say nobody gave him anything. Blame the world. Make his circumstances the reason he never became what he could have been.
Or outwork everyone in the room.
Luke said the locker room had both. Kids from wealth. Kids from nothing. Kids with every advantage. Kids who scraped for every inch.
Same choice for all of them.
Ownership or victimhood.
Fuel or excuse.
The rich kid can waste the head start or build on it.
The poor kid can drown in the deficit or weaponize it.
Greatness doesn't come from where you start.
It comes from which kid you choose to feed.
