The deal is simple. The parcel moves in the company's own network. India Post carries only the last leg, to the doorstep the company cannot reach.
Why India Post? About 9 out of 10 of its 1.65 lakh post offices are in villages.
No courier can make money opening a hub in a remote village for a few parcels a day.
India Post is already there. It was built over decades as a public service, not a business plan.
The parcel business was growing even before these deals. Revenue went from โน669 crore in 2024-25 to โน1,133 crore in 2025-26, up 69% in one year.
The network once seen as a welfare cost is turning into India's last-mile backbone.
In delivery, the costliest kilometre is the last one, and India built it long before e-commerce needed it.
