Paul is the literal earliest source we have about jesus. It's insane to pretend you know what jesus was saying better than him.
I made this meme three years ago purposely misrepresenting hume to ragebait people and expose pseuds.
Are people actually posting this around?
"Hume thinks laws of nature must be always true" lmao
Basta vedere che esempi usa. Si, se il tuo è un movimento che punta all'allineamento col mondo liberal-imperialista la lotta pacifica è più facile. Senza parlare del fatto che contano il sud africa come "successo" della "non-violenza"
I was watching the curious case of Benjamin Button, and I was thinking, very weird of them starting his life as an old man. Very avant-garde. Turns out I was watching the movie in reverse
It's an honorific. Some languages use plural to enfasize importance. If you're Christian you can read into it the trinity. It's not that deep.
“The spirit of the gods (Ruach Elohim) was hovering over the waters”
- Genesis 1:2
This means that Primordial Waters (plural) already existed before the Elohim created anything. So “creation from nothing” is not supported by Genesis.
Also Elohim is plural, there’s multiple gods. Which one is first? We’re never told in Genesis. Yahweh or El (singular) doesn’t show up til later. Elohim (plural) is the only word used for the entire chapter for Genesis 1.
Which means these are terrestrial gods creating from something that already existed from primordial times.
Actual dialectical materialists wouldn't discard out of hand a practice so incredibly common to human society. Maybe they would investigate why so many people believe such "nonsense"? Find the material reason of it?
hegel considers concepts in their entirety, both accident and substance, by moving the planet turns its being here into not being here, so it isn't the same planet anymore. motion in itself is a place that both is and isn't. its a perfectly fine passage
Yeah because he was a bad writer and decent poet with some bangers
He killed a bunch of people in fiume though so the much better poets that came before and after him are ignored
United States installed dozens of far right authoritarian governments around the world in order to fight communism but I guess communists were mean to social democrats once so it means they are the same as nazis
Okay, I'll explain horseshoe theory for the peanut gallery.
The idea was first written down by French philosopher Jean-Pierre Faye in the 60s or 70s, and is based on his studies of totalitarian regimes like Nazi Germany and Soviet communism. The theory posits that rather than existing on a straight, two-dimensional, linear spectrum from left to right, the political spectrum is actually bent like a horseshoe where the two extreme ends closely resemble one another.
The textbook example is the rise of Hitler. During the final years of the Weimar Republic, the Communist Party (KPD) focused its political attacks on the moderate, center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD). The KPD labeled the socialists "social fascists" and said that moderate democracy was merely a disguised form of capitalism that stood in the way of a communist revolution. This namecalling fragmented and paralyzed the left, allowing the rise of the Nazi Party, as the KPD refused to directly attack Adolf Hitler.
Rather, the KPD believed that a Nazi government would quickly collapse and pave the way for their communist uprising. Like leftists today, they even had a slogan for it: "After Hitler, our turn." The KPD thus focused all of its attention on criticizing the establishment status-quo and destabilizing democratic institutions, even partnering with the Nazis, like in the 1932 Berlin transport strike.
Outside of their tactics, however, the KPD also shared with the Nazis many substantive agreements. They both had a fierce, fundamental hatred of liberal democracy, parliamentary compromise, and pluralism. They were hell-bent on completely dismantling and replacing the democratic center, which led them to employ similar totalitarian tactics as Nazis such as political violence and short-term cooperation with the far right, especially when the Nazis were focused on attacking the SPD.
In this way, the opposing ideological extremes worked together to destroy the political middle and established democracy of the Weimar Republic, fragmenting the left and blocking compromise, thus allowing Hitler to rise to power almost unopposed as the weakened and divided left fell one by one.
Sound familiar? It should.
