Getting ready to make Sweet Chestnut shingles for our Long House roof. This local woodland is about to be recoppiced. Delighted to be locking carbon into our roof AND the regrowth will process up to 3 times more carbon than a standard tree! + lots of volunteer skills development

Hand converted cranked tie beams in place. Underneath we have two repaired original cross ties. Until we close the reinstated Long House in, we need to keep them dry - hence the black plastic #hewing #traditionalskills #suffolk #timberframe first built in 1580 #volunteerproject

Earth building is returning to mainstream construction around the world. Great to see a thorough roundup by @ArchReview, who highlight early on that much so called ‘rammedearth’ is in fact full of concrete. #naturalmaterials #eartharchitecture

Tamped Earth floors, called Tataki or Douma in Japan, have historically been used in Japanese buildings for their practicalities and performance benefits. The distinctive aesthetic is one we have been working to replicate in our wall finishes. #earthbuilding #clayplaster – at Falmouth, England

We’ve been saying this for sometime now - we Can Build With Carbon! It’s great to see Chris Magwood’s work at @EndeavourCentre in @lloydalter article on how our built environment can become our planet’s #SixthCarbonSink. 🌱🌳🌲👉🏗🏠👍🌍 #BuildWithCarbon treehugger.com/green-archite…
