As flu season approaches, knowing your vaccine options can be an important step in protecting yourself from respiratory viruses.
In Ontario, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are authorized to administer certain vaccines by injection, including vaccines for influenza (flu), COVID-19, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and others.
Not all vaccines or vaccination services provided in pharmacies are publicly funded, and eligibility may vary. Speak with your pharmacy team to make sure they have the vaccines in stock. Learn what to expect at your pharmacy: buff.ly/mLy3cps

Behind every pharmacy counter, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians work together to prepare your medication safely and accurately. As regulated healthcare professionals, they are part of your healthcare team and are expected to meet practice standards, College policies, and a Code of Ethics.
Before your medication reaches you, the following steps are required to ensure it is safe, appropriate, and accurate:
✅Your prescription is reviewed to ensure the medication and dosage are appropriate for your needs.
✅Your prescription is checked for potential interactions with your allergies, other medications, or medical conditions.
✅Your prescription information is entered into the pharmacy system.
✅Your medication is counted and packaged.
✅The information on your prescription label is reviewed for accuracy.
✅Your medication and quantity are double-checked before being dispensed.
✅You can receive counselling from a pharmacist about how to take your medication properly and any potential side effects.
