VP Carroll reflects on #FreedomDay and plans to create intentional space to honor her ancestors this #Juneteenth while asking: How are you making this world freer?
#Juneteenth is a day with many meanings. For our student intern, Trakel "Kel" Pinkston it's a time of acknowledgment of "the strength more so than the struggle."
The all-Black towns of Oklahoma represent a unique chapter in America. From 1865-1920, emancipated folx settled over 50 towns throughout the state. While we learn about them, we also acknowledge the indigenous land on which this history happened and that we gather on today.
Learn more! @americareframed presents "Struggle & Hope," a documentary that centers on the communities and legacies of Oklahoma's all-Black towns. Watch it here: pbs.org/video/struggle-hope-…
#Juneteenth is also known as Freedom Day, Liberation Day or Jubilee Day. This year, on its 156th anniversary, how will you be celebrating??
#Oklahoma is home for all of these #OutAndProud folx. #HappyPride to them and all they represent for all of us!
