The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with @OIC_COMSTECH, today launched the first issue of 2026 of the Journal of Science Communication and Diplomacy, celebrating two years of the Journal’s publication. In her keynote address, Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch underscored that today’s global challenges require collective solutions, with science diplomacy playing an increasingly central role in bridging science and foreign policy. She emphasised the need for stronger scientific cooperation within the OIC and for developing countries to participate actively in shaping the governance of emerging technologies. Iqbal Choudhary highlighted COMSTECH’s role as a platform for advancing scientific collaboration and harnessing the collective scientific potential of the Muslim world. 1/2

The Journal serves as a dedicated platform for diplomats, scientists, academics and policy practitioners to contribute to policy-relevant debate at the intersection of science, technology and international relations. The first issue of 2026 features 11 articles, including seven authored by diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Editorial Board, led by @TahirAndrabi, congratulates all contributors and acknowledges the sustained efforts of the Ministry and COMSTECH teams in bringing the issue to fruition.
