For AI and robotics to understand the real world, recognizing objects isn’t enough. They also need to understand space, distance, and obstacles.
That’s what makes @vangrid_io interesting.
Vangrid is building a way to transform everyday environments into structured 3D data that can support robotics and AI world models.
Here’s how it works:
- Capture: People use their phones to record real-world spaces.
- Reconstruct: Footage is converted into 3D formats like point clouds, Gaussian splats, and textured meshes.
- Review: Previews help identify incomplete or low-quality captures.
- Privacy: Faces and license plates are redacted on-device in the described workflow.
- Verify: Capture fingerprints and attestations on Base help make records more verifiable.
Why does this matter?
Robots need more than visual recognition. They need spatial context to understand their surroundings and navigate them effectively.
Better 3D data could help advance robotics, simulations, and AI world models.
I like the idea of turning ordinary places into valuable data for machines to learn from.
Physical AI needs a better understanding of the real world, and Vangrid is working to build part of that foundation.
Big Congratulations 🎊

X now have a lead product. Great news
I’m joining the team at @X to lead Product.
I am a huge believer in @SpaceX's mission to extend human consciousness to the stars, so it’s time to make shitposting multiplanetary.
X is the best way to find out what’s happening in the world right now and talk about it. The team has been working tirelessly to make X a better place and product for the people who love it, and many have noticed the recent momentum. My goal is to help accelerate that momentum for our community, new users, and businesses globally by continuing to make this product beautiful and useful.
We are twenty years in, but it truly feels like X’s next chapter will be our greatest. I look forward to your ideas and feedback; I’m sure the replies will be measured and magnanimous.
