Nigeria’s democracy did not come on a platter. It was fought for. We will never forget the jackboots of the military against the media and civil society. We will not let them truncate democracy. Gov. The Renewed Hope National Media Tour – North West has officially commenced, setting the tone for a new kind of governance engagement rooted in transparency, evidence, and direct public accountability. Flagged off in Abuja by the Presidential Communications Team in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, the tour began its first leg with Kaduna as the initial destination. This is not a flyover exercise. It is a ground-level inspection, a first-hand documentation of progress, and a deliberate effort to connect policy with lived reality. The delegation is travelling by road using Compressed Natural Gas vehicles provided through the Presidential CNG and EV Initiative and Jet Motors. It is a practical demonstration of Nigeria’s clean energy transition in motion, not theory. The first stop was the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Highway corridor, where the team drove through and inspected the completed 108km stretch from Tungan-Maje in Abuja to Jere in Kaduna. What was once a corridor defined by delay is steadily becoming a route of movement, commerce, and renewed confidence. From there, the team proceeded to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Kaduna Western Bypass. Though awarded in 2021, construction gained real momentum in 2023 under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The dual carriageway spans 21.47 kilometres on each lane and is designed to decongest Kaduna city while unlocking new economic corridors. This tour which will visit various states of the North West is about more than projects. It is about restoring trust between government and the governed by showing the work, not just speaking about it. Across the North West and beyond, the Renewed Hope National Media Tour will continue to document, verify, and present the reality of ongoing infrastructure, energy, and social investments shaping Nigeria’s future.

In a statement by the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Gov. Mai Mala Buni, Brig.-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), the government said the operation was conducted on a known Boko Haram stronghold in Jilli, Gubio council area of Borno. He said that some residents of Geidam, which borders the area, had visited the Jilli weekly market and were affected by the strike. “They have been evacuated to Geidam Specialist Hospital and are responding to treatment,” Abdulsalam said. He reiterated that Jilli remained an insurgent-controlled enclave with no legitimate civilian presence, describing it as a “no man’s land” used for logistics, coordination and staging of attacks. Abdulsalam also restated that the use of motorcycles remains prohibited across the North-east operational theatre due to their continued use by terrorist elements. He, however, assured residents of sustained operations to dismantle terrorist enclaves and restore lasting peace in the region.2/2

This validates the renewed commitment on the part of the administration of President Bola Tinubu to deal with terrorism. On all fronts, Mr. President is pulling all stops to rid Nigeria of terrorists and secure lives and property. Thank you. Snr Advisor
The United States commends the Nigerian government for its strong commitment to expediting trials addressing terrorism and related crimes. We welcome the convictions of 386 Islamist militants in cases that had previously faced significant delays in the courts, and we recognize this as an important step toward accountability and justice. We believe that timely and transparent legal processes are critical in confronting extremism and reinforcing public trust in judicial institutions. Upholding the rule of law remains essential to ensuring the safety, stability, and long-term security of all Nigerians, and we support continued efforts to strengthen judicial efficiency and fairness across the country.

For Nigeria, the message is equally clear- the country is entering a phase where diplomatic engagements must increasingly deliver bankable outcomes—investments, partnerships, and measurable economic gains that directly impact growth, jobs, and productivity. In this regard, the visit can be seen as an early validation of Nigeria’s reform narrative. Exchange rate unification, fiscal restructuring, and ongoing tax reforms are beginning to reshape external perceptions. More importantly, they are creating the conditions under which international partners are willing to commit capital at scale. This is the real shift- from engagement to execution and from signaling to substance. The visit began with the language of history and ended with that of colloquialisms and commitments. As the King himself famously remarked during his toast, “Naija no dey carry last,” that cultural idiom -warm, informal, and deeply resonant- spoke to an entire nation 3,000miles away, signifying something more than just wit. It hinted at a fraternal ease, a relationship evolving from the rigid hierarchies of a former colonial power and its erstwhile subject into one of mutual recognition and growing parity. But the visit did not end in sentiment. It closed with a bucket load of commitments—defined, quantified, and consequential, signifying that this parley was indeed, long overdue and actually achieved its intended outcomes. And that is how partnerships endure: not by memory, but by symbiotic mutualism. This is what President Bola Tinubu achieved within two days in London after a 37year hiatus on a Presidential red carpet on the banks of the Thames.2/2 @Dolusegun16 @OfficialAPCNg
