A major but under-reported development this week - digital strip searches are GONE. And many of our recommendations have been incorporated in the new guidance police must follow when seeking data. A big win for us! And a huge win for justice. gov.uk/government/news/bette…

Noooo!! It is the best feature of the the app. I have a lot of friends that migrated from SMS to Signal and I could keep my conversation on the same app while switching to the most secure option of Signal messages. This is a bad move for Signal adoption and for current users

We’re extremely concerned to find that @cheshirepolice is now using facial recognition. This extreme tech turns the public into walking ID cards & could turn police encounters, whether on the roads, stop & search or protests into Orwellian police lineups bigbrotherwatch.org.uk/2022/…

We started the evening with a billed talk from returning speaker & savant of data regulation, @Deadbolt84. A very interactive talk looking at the cookie popups, and their compliance with the regulation. Hugely popular amongst us all, and overran by a good twenty minutes(!) 😁👌

Yes exactly. If you are serious about ethics sign up to @opendatamcr 's declaration. Use @DataKind 's ethics toolkits and Write up and share your work openly. Simples. Do not do a whole seperate data ethics workstream and pay other people to do it for you!

Privacy is about consent. It isn’t about minimizing what you share — it’s about choosing what you share, and with whom.
