They agreed on strengthening bilateral cooperation in ICT sector by establishing institutional linkages & exchanging official delegations.

I was pleased to deliver the opening remarks at today’s session on “Policy and Regulatory Alignment for SME Competitiveness: Ethiopia’s Path Towards AfCFTA Implementation,” co-organized by IFA Ethiopia and UNDP at the Skylight Hotel.
Ethiopia remains strongly committed to implementing the AfCFTA. Ongoing progress in tariff liberalization, customs improvements, and regulatory alignment is helping create a more predictable and competitive business environment. As SMEs drive employment, industrialization, and inclusive growth across manufacturing, agriculture, and services, these reforms will expand their regional market opportunities and reinforce Ethiopia’s contribution to an integrated African economy.
I underscored that SME performance will be essential for maximizing AfCFTA gains and highlighted the government’s efforts to support SME growth through productivity enhancement, market expansion, technological upgrading, and stronger policy coherence. I also encouraged IFA and UNDP to continue advancing capacity-building, training, and research in this crucial area.
