People wondering why Thanos trusted Loki with the 2012 New York invasion instead of sending Ebony Maw and the Black Order missed three huge cosmic details about the MCU timeline. In 2012, Earth was protected by The Ancient One (who was literally on a rooftop in New York shooting down Chitauri!) and Odin (who considered Midgard under Asgard's protection). Sending the Black Order would have alerted the biggest heavyweights in the universe that Thanos was collecting the Infinity Stones too early! Because Loki was an Asgardian prince, Odin treated the 2012 invasion as a family crime and locked Loki in Asgard’s dungeons, never suspecting that Thanos was the one pulling the strings behind the scenes! Thanos never wanted to expose his hand until he knew the location of all six Stones. In 2012, he used expendable middlemen (Loki for the Space Stone, Ronan for the Power Stone) while keeping his own children hidden until he found Gamora’s map to Vormir in 2018! If Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian had dropped into Manhattan in 2012, the Ancient One and Odin would have ended Thanos’s quest six years early! #Marvel #MCU
