The cumulative passion for the Arctic contained in this group is unreal! Still cannot believe my luck to have shared the last week with all these amazing humans.

#Arctic benthic #invertebrate larval assemblages comprise a mix of local & non-local taxa. A species-level survey of the #larvae using DNA metabarcoding along with particle tracking show potential for southern taxa to drift into the Arctic #FeatureArticle bit.ly/meps_699_1

What a privilege to be back at UiT in Norway to act as PhD opponent to @OceanRaphaelle. Congratulations Dr Descôteaux - an excellent thesis and defense. Tromso hasn’t disappointed and great to catch up with colleagues 😊 🦀 🇳🇴 🏔

Thesis is submitted! I was kind of taken aback by the feeling that hit me when I clicked "submit". Stopped for a breath of fresh air on my way home at 6am...

An old student of mine @MariePedaccini is leading a project developing artificial reefs around offshore wind farms with the aim of supporting diversity of marine organisms. I'm super impressed with her :) Follow link to learn more or donate: ulule.com/enereef/?utm_campa…

We cannot afford slow movers, fake movers, or any form of greenwashing, in our race against the climate crisis. The transition to net-zero must be swift, credible, just and inclusive.

Our energy decisions need to be in line with our long-term goals towards a healthy climate. Very interesting discussions from @arcticfrontiers 2022.

Spring has arrived in northern Norway: the first wildflowers🌼 are piercing through the snow and the intertidal is covered in baby gastropods🐚!

Living on the seashore is like being on fieldwork year-round... I get to witness seasonal, even daily, changes first hand. So incredibly fun and helpful to a marine biologist!
In French this sound is called 'clapotis'. 🌊 I like the word almost as much as I like the sound itself. Happy sunny spring day from northern Norway!

I wonder if the intertidal organisms on this beach are as thrilled as I am that winter is finally back 🤔🐚🦀

Happy spring equinox from northern Norway! Two months ago the sun was under the horizon all day and in two months from now it won't set. Things move fast in the north!

New paper out! The fruit of Liza Ershova and @OceanRaphaelle's enormous work to research the fate of larval invaders of the Arctic. High-throughput COI Leray-XT barcoding enables robust identification of meroplankton individuals. Out in @FrontMarineSci. doi.org/10.3389/fmars.2019.0…
