To the Americans:
I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States.
And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness:
You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence.
This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns.
Success is equated with exploitation.
Ambition is looked upon with contempt.
This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom.
But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated.
This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet.
And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America:
Thank God for the United States.
Thank God for the wisdom of its founders.
Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man.
Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners.
Long may your admirable country dominate the world.
Long may your freedom and hope provide an example to those suffering everywhere at the hands of their malevolent states.
May your two and a half centuries of unparallelled success be just the beginning.
Your country is the light of the world, and the city on the hill.
Thank God for the USA.
Happy 250th.

Yes.
Roger Ebert on ‘The Mummy’
“There is within me an unslaked hunger for preposterous adventure movies. I resist the
bad ones, but when a "Congo" or an "Anaconda" comes along, my heart leaps up and I cave in. "The Mummy" is a movie like that. There is hardly a thing I can say in its favor, except that I was cheered by nearly every minute of it. I cannot argue for the script, the direction, the acting or even the mummy, but I can say that I was not bored and sometimes I was unreasonably pleased. There is a little immaturity stuck away in the crannies of even the most judicious of us, and we
should treasure it.”
The world is healing. Want to see literacy rates soar? Put books kids want to read in front of them. And not just Marvel and DC, but adaptations of currently popular cartoons. I remember cutting my teeth on TMNT Adventures and GI Joe comics. Then moving onto stuff like the X-Men.

I’m incredibly honored to have Pres. Trump’s endorsement! His America First agenda is unleashing American Energy, strengthening national security, securing the border, & lowering living costs. I’m proud to work w/ him to restore American Greatness. Thank you, Mr. President!

If I could suggest one thing to youth sports parents, it is this; tell your child you love watching them compete, full stop; never coach from the stands, encourage them to never look at you during the competition, and do not offer advice unless they ask for it, specifically. The last suggestion I will make is this; do not criticize the coaches. They do this for nothing or a nominal amount.
PS: yelling at youth sports officials, who might be making $20/game, is incredibly embarrassing and even more incredibly ineffective.
Pretty amazing. Whenever I need to see this it happens to show up on my timeline. I did tonight. Thank you to @jasonsudeikis for giving us Ted Lasso.
My favorite 82 seconds of TV the last couple of years.
Listen. Learn.
Be Curious. Not Judgmental.

Nice to see Jake getting some props here. He has been consistently solid on the field for them since the preseason. A mauler who fights every play.
This is great news not just for UND, but for football in the state!
We got our guy! Excited to welcome Eric Schmidt as the 28th head coach of the North Dakota football program!

This is incredible. Marvel needs to do the same. Affordable comics for kids in places they may be. This is the way. Put things in front of kids they want to read and they will read.
North Dakota football, not just at UND, is better off because of this man right here. Thank you for your years of service, Coach!
An emotional Bubba Schweigert takes some time during his press conference to thank his family for their support in his 11 years as head coach of the @UNDfootball program.
This is maybe the best ad I’ve ever seen and not because it’s promoting a car. It is promoting so much more than a car.
Volvo posted a 3 min and 46 second ad on Instagram, shot by Hoyte Van Hoytema, the cinematographer of Interstellar and Oppenheimer.
It goes against every single rule you can think about as a social lead. Length. Format. Over-produced.
Every comment under the ad said it immediately put Volvo in their consideration set. It's fucking fantastic.
Why can’t we have a good open-world Marvel game like this? It would sell so many copies. Just let me veg out in front of a TV for days…
