Nic Maddison must be pinching himself thinking how much cricket he had to play before he got his first test and how little cricket he's played before his next one. I wish him all the best
The days of clubs trying their best to wreck trades appears to be over. List managers are working together like never before to help generate player trades and for other clubs to assemble draft points where it makes sense. It's a pragmatic approach that reaps rewards.
It's not often you go into a trade week and are able to check off a lot of what's on the shopping list. More to come.
Greg Swan says there would be a crackdown on jumper punches and Lachie Neale has been given a GF week suspension because of one.
Brisbane are rightfully challenging it.
Lets see the reasons the AFL might find to overlook this.
I don't know how or why Greg Swann can justify potentially shortening the quarters in a game when he has implemented so many extra reviews?
He might be good at selling the vision but there were way too many technical reviews last night.
He needs to get his crap together.
With Sydney dealing with their serious issue so promptly and professionally (at least in an interim phase) you have to wonder why the AFL is still dawdling on the Geelong issue with their unapproved concussion agreement?
It must be an interesting time for a journo. This was essentially going to be a lame round (thanks to the AFL) and now Sydney have hit the self destruct button, Essendon members make coaching ultimatums on their board and we still have the where will Butters go bubbling away.
I've just listened to Caroline Wilson's interview with Andrew Dillon and she certainly asked harder and more direct questions than Gerard Whateley. These are not the complex or sensitive issues as Dillon indicates, I hope the AFL doesn't believe a fine will be sufficient.
I didn't think the @GerardWhateley interview with Andrew Dillon asked the right questions and he simply accepted fuzzy responses without pressing things. This is a serious matter on so many levels and the time for sensitivities has passed. A monetary fine is not sufficient.
It would appear Geelong are quite comfortable doing side deals with players that avoiding player managers on discussions and contracts about serious issues like concussion was no real issue for them. This isn't just a case sloppy paperwork process as the CEO is owning up to.
What was Carltons fine with their lack of Duty of Care with Holland? 75K?
With the most serious AFL issue, Geelong bypasses a players manager to get a new side deal done with the player and then doesn't process the paper work for 2 years and what do they cop? Nothing?
Player contracts are the footy depts area to manage. They have limits of what they can do. This contract going to the Cats board means that Mackie knew it exceeded his authority level and he needed the boards approval to get it done.
Lets see how hard the media push this.
Great to catch up with @FloridaStrayDog at training today.
Now that is what I call commitment 😀
I just got home from an excellent @EastWestClubInc night at the @mulgravecc venue. 3 Players were there in Carmichael, Emmett and Lewis plus we had Regan, Lade and Beveridge. Hosted by Kevin Hillier it's consistently one of the best nights. All Dogs fans should join.
A big shout out for the great work at the Inside the Kennel podcast. This week Kelvin Templeton.
