Thank you to the Broncos for having us out again. Great coaches, players, and program.
Ohlone Boyz ranked #1 in the nation in JUCO Insider's pre-season poll. The most important poll is the one at the end of the season though -- we will remain focused and hungry.

As coaches, we love ALL of our guys. It's hard not to when you spend so much time with them. But occasionally, there are guys that care SO MUCH, fought SO HARD through adversity, and showed up EVERYDAY for our program, that you just can't help but root a little more for them. Cam Hegamin's squeeze won a Super Regional for us last year -- will never forget it. Now he's at Manhattan Univ and living out his D1 dream. @Cam2Hegamin

Excited to be attending the Sophomore Showcase this Saturday. I will be playing in the second game of the showcase on Saturday innings 9-12 at 1:00 pm with BP at 11:05 and infield/outfield at 12:35-12:50.
Ohlone pitching coach Nick Sanzeri does an excellent job with arms! See his info below -- and then come pitch for us here at Ohlone College and see your opportunities open up (10 D I transfers in 2023, 14 in '24/'25, 11 in 2026).
For parents, fans, or alumni -- feel free to browse the "College Collection" if you have any needs for Ohlone Baseball apparel. Disclosure: this is not a fundraiser and all communication and / or purchases go directly through the independent site.

Just departing from the office after finishing up the practice plan for tomorrow. We try to stay on top of things so that each day is organized, efficient, and productive. Sometimes that means long nights. At least, when you leave the office, you get views like this. Nothing like the OC! Starting to kick off our recruiting for 2027's and excited to start connecting with some players and coaches!
9/11 Brought us 9/12
---------
I don't use Social Media, and this account specifically, to highlight family, or discuss local or global events, or for any other reason than to promote and celebrate our program and players. But today? Today is different. Today is something MORE than baseball -- although, it will circle back to baseball for anyone who can stick with this until the end.
I was living at 401 Michigan Avenue in Washington, DC, on this very day, 25 years ago, as I was attending classes at The Catholic University of America. I would argue that 9/11, for me, was the most surreal, traumatic, and soul-crushing event I had experienced in my life up to that point -- and at 53 years old now -- it still holds that distinction for me. I experienced the SF earthquake in '89 and the Northridge quake in '93 -- but this was DIFFERENT.
I remember that morning well. I recall us hearing the first World Trade Center tower had been hit. And, NOT realizing the severity of the situation, we walked out of our building, across the campus of CUA, and over to our Moral Theology class, headed by Dr. John Grabowski (who I believe is still there today). He started class at 9:00 and mentioned something about the first tower being hit. I don't remember being particularly alarmed at the situation, and I don't think ANY of us had inkling of what was about to come
However, that all changed quickly. Someone came to the door of our class a short time later, and mentioned the second World Trade Center tower had also been hit by a plane. If the level of alarm was previously at a 10 (on a scale of 1-100), it had now shot up to an 85. A second tower being hit quickly brought a "What is going on here?" feeling. With that info, class was cancelled.
As we departed class, we were met with a sight that looked like something out of a Sci-Fi movie. People were frantically running in all kinds of directions, seemingly looking to get somewhere quickly. Michigan Avenue look like something I've never seen. It was a parking lot, horns honking, people looking frantic as they were stuck in the gridlock. Nobody was moving yet everyone was in a state of panic. You could FEEL the intensity of the situation and the abundance of cars, hurried bodies, honking horns, and worries faces was making this feel more and more serious by the second.
As I got back to our building, maybe 10 minutes passed until we learned that the Pentagon (maybe 7-8 miles from us) had been also struck. Wanting proof for ourselves, a couple of us climbed to the roof of our building (the only time I had been up there) and saw the smoke off in the distance. From there, it seemed the nightmare was over -- but then more news a half hour later that another plane crashed.
A moment in time that I don't think I'll ever forget. My cortisol has been raised just writing about this. But I WANTED to write for one simple reason. That reason? Our current players were not even born yet when this happened. My own children weren't born yet. So in one way, I want them to know about 9/11/01. I don't want that day forgotten. Too many people lost lives or loved ones. Others were traumatized. Others were heroes. So many emotions were part of that day.
But to me, 9/11/01 is NOT the most important day I want them to remember. It's actually 9/12/01. Because in my lifetime, that was a day where this nation was UNITED. Nothing divided us. We were ALL ONE NATION, under God. No matter your race, religion, political affiliation. No matter if you liked the Cowboys or Eagles, the Red Sox or Yankees. Everybody was united by the simple fact, that we were ALL Americans. And we all wanted to take care of each other.
So for that fact, as bad as I want to erase 9/11 from my mind, I won't; because after it, came 9/12. And for that fact, I hope our players and my children read this -- so they realize that unity and fellowship of man, despite our differences, has been reality, and can be again.
