There are 10 Australians - and 1 Kiwi - on NBA rosters going into the opening day of the 2026-27 regular season.
From Giddey, to Daniels, to Landale, Proctor, Thybulle, Zikarsky, and more; for @ESPNAusNZ, here’s a look at what to expect from each of them.

Brandon Knight will not be available for the Perth Wildcats’ game vs the Adelaide 36ers on Thursday, sources told ESPN. He’s not in the country yet. As it stands, it’s unlikely he’ll be available for either of the Wildcats’ Round 2 games.

Spending = wins last NBL season, Perth/Sydney led the pack, Bryce’s citizenship saved Adelaide ~$800k, and SEM were high achievers.
New on @ESPNAusNZ. Here’s each NBL team’s cash + cap spends from the 2025-26 season - obtained by ESPN - and my analysis.

Unreal game from Fabijan Krslovic vs. Sydney, anchoring Melbourne's defence with Edwards out, plus filling out the boxscore (16p 12r 2a 3s 3b)

That’s 7 straight wins for the Adelaide 36ers, who move to 14-3; this game created that extra bit of separation atop the #NBL26 ladder. Cotton-Humphries-Cheatham were their usual awesome selves (especially in the first half), and Flynn Cameron deserves a ton of credit for his on-ball creation in this one; his usage was up, especially when Cotton fouled out, which forced him to take the reins.
United (now 13-5) drops their third straight game. This was much improved from their last two losses, though. Substantially better flow offensively, which Ili + an in-rhythm CG helps. On-ball coverage in the first half was awful, but remedied in the second. They missed the extra perimeter presence - on both ends - of Tyson Walker. It’s a loss but not a bad showing from MU.

Here’s the last 30 seconds of the game. Just a wild finish to what was one of the most highly-anticipated regular season NBL games ever. The 36ers are now atop the #NBL26 ladder.

Some absolutely wild scenes in Wollongong.
With his Illawarra Hawks down 105-102 - and just 1.9 to play - JaVale McGee hits it from beyond half-court. Unfortunately, it came just after the buzzer. Melbourne United wins.

The Taipans announce McVeigh will miss time with a wrist injury.
This was the outcome from him re-injuring that right hand, as he tried to find a way to still get a shot up through the pain.
Not ideal for the Taipans who play 36ers, Perth and Melb... #NBL26

New @ESPNAusNZ story on Taran Armstrong agreeing with Dubai Basketball. The 6’5 point guard is coming off a two-way deal with the Golden State Warriors; this impending signing makes him the only Australian male currently in the EuroLeague.
