My advice for players & coaching participating in or running trials #1 - Trial environments are new and artificial, do not judge a players personality in the trial. The worst person you know will naturally get their act together for a period of time, and then as they get more comfortable on the team itself those problems you heard about WILL start to leak out and become unmanageable. Do not make the mistake of picking up a problem player on a roster with intentions to win. #2 - For IGL's this depends on the team and coach but some IGLs make the mistake of being OVERLY prepared. If you are booked for a single scrim day bring a couple rounds that are basic and instead of focusing on some valoplants talk about the common reactions you expect to make outside of the default, for example if it is bind and you play some formation of a showers control default and you get stuffed, tell them hey if we call ___ and get stuffed, lets insta pressure the short lurk with a dog or flash into U hall then play to reclear B long and go from there. Showing ball knowledge of real reactions & ideas will stand out more than someone trying to heavy control the players. For the cherry on top, you should already know the common mistakes teams make on the default you call in terms of micro and make the preventative comm beforehand like "yo raze dont send boombot if they shoot dog" because you want it for B long later etc. #3 - If you are a player trialing for an already established IGL / Coach duo the trial is completely different - DO NOT make the game harder to IGL - You should be looking to comm TO the igl important information & read the room take over calls on some rounds if you are an awper etc but obviously if you call to awp some bullshit then u just suck and they will know u suck instantly talking about "why the hell would he awp cat vs a team smoking cat every round" - You need to show mastery on the agent you are on, things should flow and not need to be forced, that means good micro on smokes, good micro on dart timings and usage etc. If you look like you are any less than perfect with the basic util, first off u suck but second off everyone will know u suck.
