These Green councillors are celebrating the fact that they've blocked a new Lidl. Apparently, it would have upset the local bats. Some of the objections came from *other supermarkets* in the area. We have to take on these anti-growth, anti-human, anti-choice ideologues.

Posts like this are a reminder that the Green’s don’t care about young people. We want the next generation to thrive, own their own homes and keep what they earn. They’re celebrating blocking a Lidl.

Setting a final closure date of 30th June for the ‘overseas sheep shearer visa’ just shows how out of touch this Labour government is with British agriculture. For years, entry has been granted to approximately 50 to 75 skilled overseas sheep shearers from Australia and New Zealand who have arrived each season to help shear millions of our sheep during our peak summer months. When this year’s visas expire, that’s it. The government have close the door. And let’s remember, the government only granted this year’s visas due to sustained pressure by the sheep sector and the Conservatives. The Home Office state the livestock sector must transition fully to domestic labour. But expecting the industry to magically replace this specialised global workforce overnight while ignoring the severe risks of fly strike, heat stress, and general animal welfare is reckless. Farms don't need arbitrary bureaucratic deadlines; they need practical support. This government must stop pulling the rug out from under our livestock farmers, get a grip and realise that not enabling this relationship to continue is hugely detrimental for animal welfare and our sheep industry.
The last overseas shearers Britain intends to let in are on the fells right now, working out the final weeks of their leave. The door shut on 30 June. No vote, no debate, no announcement, just a date passing quietly in a summer when everyone was looking elsewhere. Those still working the Borders this week are here on leave that expires on 1 October, and when they fly out that is the end of it. Understand what is walking out. Six New Zealanders spent three months in one Northumberland valley last year and sheared nearly 90,000 sheep. Fifteen thousand head each, across farms from the Scottish Borders down to County Durham. They have been coming into Coquetdale for over thirty years. Since 2011 a concession has let up to 75 of them in each spring, and between them they take the wool off one and a half to two million British sheep in a window a few weeks long. The Home Office rejected the application on 2 February. Twenty-six days of farmers writing to their MPs got it reinstated on 10 March for one final year, with a line about the sector having had fourteen years to train British workers and now being expected to transition to domestic labour. Here is what that sentence is standing on. British Wool trains over 800 people a year, most of those courses are basic level, and most of the people on them are sheep farmers learning to do their own flock. Training was never the bottleneck. A top shearer clears a ewe in two or three minutes, calm hands, no panic in the animal, hundreds a day for weeks on end, and reaching that standard takes years of conditioning and a place in a global trade that follows the season around the planet. Fourteen million breeding ewes. A few weeks to do them all. A sheep left in fleece gets eaten alive by maggots, so the job is not optional and the date is not negotiable. Next spring those farms make phone calls that nobody answers. Seventy-five shearers, once a year, and a government that could not find room for them.

The false allegation of genocide against Israel is a deliberate insult to Jews. They are a people who have suffered that terrible crime against humanity. Those who make the claim - and those who refuse to deny it - are cowards.

Says it all really doesn’t it….. #LabourRaisesTaxes
In a 30 minute speech, not a single word about cutting your taxes. Andy Burnham won’t cut your taxes. Kemi Badenoch will.

Hiking national insurance The Family Farm Tax Giving up on real welfare reform Not funding our defence Not drilling our own oil and gas Appointing Peter Mandelson…then lying about what had happened Britain is not ungovernable. Keir Starmer is a terrible Prime Minister. But the problem isn’t just Starmer. Labour MPs only want higher taxes to hand out more benefits, as the Welfare Secretary has pointed out. These are Labour’s choices and their values, regardless of who is running the party. We need to get Britain working again. We need the @Conservatives.
